...but now we can say... Bart does.
Or...Wax on, Wax off. Wax on my shirt, watch, pants, etc. as I rub it off the board.
Yesterday morning I take Tiger out on the beach. We had gotten in yesterday, it was a LONG day with the flight and all. We cruise around, take some stock (still working this new camera)...and I see boards for rent. I ask how much the lessons are -- $35.
On my dwindling list of "things to try", surfing was up there. Now...this is a lifelong list. I'm older, more beat up....but apparently, not wiser. So I sign up and give it a shot. I smeared on some extra sunscreen on my shiny bald head and take the class. Next, its out in the water.
So there I was, just grooving along, and my Tiki God pendant was getting in the way...and then I had a bad wipe out, right into the breakwater. All three of my sisters were upset...oh wait...that's the Brady Bunch.
It was cool. It took me a few tries to get the standing up sequence going...and being a tourist area with a lot of other beginners, I had to bail out a few times because I can't steer well enough to carve away from flotillas of fellow beginners. Paddling was a the limitng factor. It beats the hell out of you after a while.
I ate at a pretty decent place, "Cheeseburger in Paradise", which is not the same as the chain started by Jimmy Buffet. Tiger wanted a drink there.
Mike was up at 0530 and asked if I wanted to go out. It was 0530....no. I was up around 0645....when I get up with the boys...but not 0530. So he goes to the dang Arizona without me. We had the day apart...which is OK as he doesn't do the beach thing, let alone the surf thing. I'll catch the Arizon during the weekend as on Monday we're looking at going to the Polynesian Village...a day long thing, but what the heck, we get to eat a true island roast pig! Don't worry, if I get up and do the hula, will get Mike or someone to get pictures.
I've learned to do at least my first pass at shopping early in a trip. John had advised me the sourvenirs on the Stennis sell out quickly, so I got at least a few things for the boys and my wonderful office staff, plus my hosts for my Seattle stay.
We board early early on the 21st, so I'm just here for a few days. However, there is a lot more to explore here...and I am in the heart of the tourist area, so I'm taking that into account.
I'm going to try to keep shooting and build up my stock portfolio again as well as just get used to this dang camera. I've turned down some assignments since I've been back, now that I have this new camera I can start shooting professionally again. Also, shooting stock photography will be a lot easier, less expensive, and easier to catalog (before we had to scan in the slides). Don't know when I'll get to post again, so I thought I get this sent before I get too busy.
Aloha!
