Current mood: drained
We had our performance this morning at St Mary's. It was alright. We were not exceptional and the majority of the blame lies with me. Simply not enough attempts to work up the crowd and increase crowd interaction. Yes, we got them to sing along, and clap along to a few of our numbers, but by and large, I was left underwhelmed by my own performance.
The others did very well. They all made the most of a substandard audio setup provided by the organisers. The solos were perfect, the drumline was superb and the bass was fantastic. And again, I hold up my hands for doing a disservice to the others. Word on the grapevine is that we did indeed make it to the finals. However, one can never be too sure.
Maybe I'm being too self-critical, but I must admit, I felt rather annoyed when people said we sounded 'nice' and 'good'. I was hoping to hear words like 'awesome' or 'great'. Am I hindering the band? I don't know, it's early days yet, and this is our first ever performance together on stage, live.
We decided to jam again in the afternoon, as though I subconciously wanted to make up for the rather inept performance I gave earlier, and I would like to think I made up for it.
As it is, what's done is done. Hopefully we WILL make it through to the finals. Should we get there, I've made a self promise to not mess up again. Nobody wants to let their band down.
