A white guy asked me, 'Are you voting for Barack Obama just because he's black?'

'Why not? In this country men are pulled over everyday just cause they're black;

passed over for promotions just cause they're black;

considered to be criminals just cause they're black;

and there are going to be thousands of you who won't be voting for him just because he's black!

However, you do not seem to have a problem with that!

This country was built with the sweat and whip off the black slaves' back, and now a descendant of those same slaves has a chance to lead the same country, where we weren't even considered to be people, where we weren't allowed to be educated, drink from the same water fountains, eat in the same restaurants, or even vote.

So yes! I'm going to vote for him! But it's not just because he's black, but because he is hope, he is change, and he now allows me to understand when my son says that he wants to be president when he grows up, it is not a fairy tale but a short term goal.

He now sees, understands and knows that he can achieve, withstand and do ANYTHING just because he's black!!!!'

Kelly (aka "Audrey's Mom")

I am a multiracial woman, a child of an immigrant, the grandchild of immigrants...

This country was built on the backs of many people... not just blacks. The Chinese were also slaves during the gold rush, if you remember your history. The Japanese Americans were interned during WW2 and their possessions taken away. The Irish endured hate crimes as they arrived on our North East Shores. The Polish and Jews have always been the brunt of every joke.

"...now a descendant of those same slaves has a chance to lead the same country..." Obama isn't a descendant of slaves. He's a child of a white woman from Kansas and a natural born privileged Kenyan. No one in Obama's lineage has any idea of what it is or was to be a slave in the United States. I know this is a sore spot for many, but you are aware that during the slave trade days that it was the AFRICAN nobles who were selling their own people as slaves? America was just another customer... one among MANY.

Today, the most oppressive place for a black person to be is Africa. Isn't that ironic? You'd think that the freest place for a black person to be would be Africa... but alas no. You have black tyrants oppressing other blacks because they are Hutu or Tutsi. There is no unity even among black people in Africa. There are only warlords and subjects. And you want to tell me about some perceived oppression here in the US against blacks??? Yeah, go take a visit to Africa and see how your brethren are treating your brethren. I'm not talking about Johanesberg. I'm talking about Sudan. I'm talking about Rwanda. I'm talking about Ethiopia. I'm talking about Kenya even! Where Odinga is currently running his campaign just like Obama's: Change and Hope.

You seem to be very caught up in the historic nature of Obama's rise to power. What you are clearly blind to is the history and real facts that surround this man and his policies. I'm not talking about all the bull with Ayers or his Reverend. I'm talking about, if this man is all about CHANGE as you say, then why are his policies no different than Jimmy Carter's? Why did he run on a major party ballot rather than as an independent? If he's SOOOOO about "change"??? He claims to be about "fairness" yet he wants the sector of people who are already paying 60% of fed'l income tax revenue to pay even MORE??? How is having 5% of people paying nearly 70% of the tab "fair"??? How is having 40% of people... soon to be 44%... not pay taxes at all considered "fair"???

Riddle me this: I don't own any stock in Microsoft. As a non-shareholder, do I have a right to tell Microsoft how to run its business? Nope. There are 40% of people voting out there who are not shareholders in our country, but for some reason have this say in how we run the country and who should be taxed more!!! The American Revolution was fought because we didn't want taxation without representation... yet, today we have representation without taxation!

Sorry, friend. I think you must do as I have done, and re-teach yourself some history and learn yourself some real facts rather than just regurgitating the same empty rhetoric as Obama.

Just so you don't get in a twist, I'm no fan of McCain either, and I'd be happy to hand it to anyone who thinks he's all that. If you are looking for a REAL black leader, I suggest you look at Dr. Allan Keyes. He's one of my top friends. He's my guy. He's running on an independent ticket, he divorced himself from the Republican Party, and HE is the REAL change this country needs. HE is a REAL descendant of slaves and has the name to prove it!

Knowledge is power.

Before I go, because I have a feeling I'll be blocked after this little post (LOL), please look at the website www.blackgenocide.com or www.klannedparenthood.com. Before you cast that vote for Obama, ask yourself why overall abortions are down, but abortions among blacks is still on the rise? All those beautiful black babies being thrown away like trash! Who the hell condones such practices???? Obama does, that's who. Did you know that Planned Parenthood was founded by a woman called Margaret Sanger? She was a drunk, methadone addicted, socialist, RACIST who believed in EUGENICS and wanted people of color to be sterilized and promoted abortions among them to rid the world of their race. Did you know this????? Go to those sites. Not for me. For you. For your son. LEARN about where the hate is really coming from.

"Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race."
Margaret Sanger, Founder of Planned Parenthood

"We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population…"
Margaret Sanger, Founder of Planned Parenthood

Did you know that the KKK was founded by Democrats???

Please, I implore you to do your homework. Be educated. There's more to education than a bunch of letters after your name... We are blessed to live in a country where the information is just at our fingertips.

Whether you decide to block me or not is up to you, but believe me when I say I do care and Obama by all counts is NOT the guy for our country. There are so many other great black leaders out there that would easily garner my vote before this man.

Hey I would never block anyone for expressing there views and opinions and I value yours.

Yes you are right the country was built on the backs of many people... not just blacks and Obama isn't a descendant of slaves and the most oppressive place for a black person to be is Africa and the slave trade days that it was the AFRICAN nobles who were selling their own people as slaves? America was just another customer.... Yes Yes

And Yes Planned Parenthood was founded by a woman called Margaret Sanger? She was a drunk, methadone addicted, socialist, RACIST who believed in EUGENICS and wanted people of color to be sterilized and promoted abortions among them to rid the world of their race.

And that the KKK was founded by Democrats??? Yes all is true....... However

Although these things have happened in history ...... organizations, institutions and people, they grow.... they evolve.... they change...... as of today, now, not 100 years ago the KKK is more populated by republicans and is more prevalent in republican red states as of today and that is why people associate the Klan more with republicans today.... Planned parenthood although not for everyone has it's place in society providing sex education, abortion services, contraceptive (birth control) as I said not for everyone this has legitimate service and has helped many people in need of those services in this free America.

Now as for Obama even though he isn't a descendant of slaves he is still considered a black man, he still suffers the same prejudice and racism as black man, he still has to work twice as hard to achieve the same goal as a white man. He is still hated by many because of the color of his skin. Have you seen the news people yelling to kill him, calling him the N**** word. You DO NOT I repeat DO NOT see that kind of hate toward McCain!! So although he is not a descendent of a slave he is viewed by many as a black man and suffers the same discrimination and racism as people who are decedents of slaves in America.

As for the policies, I have a choice McCain who is republican as Bush, who has ruined the reputation and integrity of the country throughout the world, who has run the economy into the ground, who back in early September was not prepared enough to have an economic plan ready. Who picked a VP who is not ready yet to be president if something were to happen?

Next choice Dr. Allan Keyes maybe better but failed to get the backing, the publicity needed to run an effective campaign. It would be a waste of vote because he has no chance.

Choice Obama offers something different than what’s being offered. A change, a different direction than where we are headed economy and worldwide. He is the best choice available at helping our present situation.

Fair would be very nice if everyone could get taxed the same amount, as you stated in your example 15%, but unfortunately life does not work out that way. There are always people less fortunate, there is lack of good jobs, unemployment is high and when you taxed 15% from someone who only has a dollar he may not be able to feed his family he may struggle to pay rent where as a person making a million dollars would pay $150,000 he still has $850,000 to pay bills eat travel and live comfortable. Not everybody is bought up with a silver spoon in their mouths. Also, would you rather have 14% of Americans (which represents the rich in America) spending all the money to help the economy or would you rather have 60 percent (which represent the middle class) spending the money, me I would go with the majority than rely on the rich to create more wealth. Most of the wealthy are greedy and only look to create more wealth for themselves which has been proven with the current state of the economy.

OPEC I got to say you are wrong here because the US is part of OPEC. In fact in the 70’s the US may a deal with OPEC in which they would exchange oil in US dollars in return for US protection. Why do you think we responded to the invasion of Kuwait so fast because they were in violation of that treaty? When Saddam threatened to change their currency and trade to Euro dollars the US immediately took him out look past the lies that the Bush administration has been feeding you.

Yes it’s all connected and a change is needed! Obama 2008!!!

I responded to this on my blog line... but thanks for reposting there!

Just wanted to say, I really enjoy this debate. I appreciate your perspective. Sorry to assume that I'd be blocked, but when you're blocked as many times as I've been... you throw out the preemptive strike. LOL.
