The Bondi based AfroColombian rock and roots group mixes raw fuzz guitar, hip hop, Stax stylehorns, percussion reminiscent of ‘Soul Sacrifice’ era Santana, killer funk bassand drums, and vocals and stage presence as strong as any in Australia rightnow.....

WATUSSI’s huge performance on one of the main stages of WOMAD earlier this year was one of thehighlights of the festival. Their debut album “Tequila, Sangre y Fuego” promptly sold out within hours of theshow and outsold every other Aussie act on the bill and all but one of theinternationals. Even in the 42 degree heat of the Sunday afternoon, the bandkept the 8,000 strong crowd dancing all the way through the 50 min set (footageof which is on youtube, type in ‘Watussi, WOMAD’).....

Charismatic front-man, Colombian born Oscar Jimenez, sings in Spanish,English and French on the release and is a powerful force onstage. The restof the band is a talented amalgam of multicultural Australian musicians,bringing a myriad of influences to the unique sound that is WATUSSI.....
