deadCENTER Film is thrilled to announce a bonus venue for ShortsSUITE in Oklahoma City.  In addition to screening short films on the first Wednesday of every month at the XO Lounge in the Colcord Building, deadCENTER will also join Live on the Plaza at the DNA Gallery on 16th St. in the Plaza District on the second Friday of every month.  These screenings are free and open to the public and showcase a different Oklahoma short filmmaker each month.

For the politically charged month of November, deadCENTER will highlight the most prolific experimental artist in Oklahoma, Robert Dohrmann.  "Screening Robert's films on Wednesday the 5th, the day after the country decides who will be president, made a lot of sense to us," states Program Director Melissa Scaramucci.  "Robert consistently delivers provocative, political images that are very much a part of the national conversation."

Screening three of his short films, "Where We are Going…" "Consessionland,"  and "Into the Heavens," Robert Dohrmann believes his work – a mix of animation, stock footage and public domain property, reveal the 'truth' as he experiences it.  "Many years ago, I was awakened in the middle of the night by a shrill, authoritative voice that said, "Tell the truth," explains Dohrmann.  "I asked the voice, "Why me?" The voice said, "Because you want to be an artist, dummy!" I thought about it for a moment and said, "… Okay."  deadCENTER will lead a brief discussion with the artist about his work at each screening.

Joining the ongoing Live on the Plaza event offers deadCENTER and Oklahoma filmmakers another chance to reach new audience members.  "Partnering with others who believe in promoting artists living and working in Oklahoma while providing an open environment for discussion of the arts is key to the mission of deadCENTER.  Live on the Plaza continues to bring value to the community and we are thrilled to have another opportunity to showcase the very best Oklahoma filmmakers," states Executive Director, Cacky Poarch.

Doors for deadCENTER Presents shortsSUITE … A Night With Robert Dohrmann on Wednesday, November 5th at XO Lounge open at 8:15pm and the program begins at 8:30pm.  Must be 21 to enter.  Doors for Live on the Plaza at the DNA Gallery on Friday, November 14th open at 7pm and the program begins at 7:30.  Both events are free and open to the public.  For more information, please visit www.deadcenterfilm.org.
