Ahhhh...ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!
I loathe this practice too. Everytime I get a message I just to wack these mofo's over the head with one of my heels for doing this exact same thing. Maybe a movement should be started? It could be called P.A.L. (People Against LOL)? All right I haven't had my coffee and it's early...

Yes Nathan,

I agree. If someone is going to be Laughing Out Loud at the slightest wit or wisecrack, I want to hear them laughing out loud. I refrain from LOL or that stuff...it sounds nervous and basically says to me "I can't think of anything to say."

Now, if they are rolling on the floor I want to SEE that...so turn on the video, and get on the floor like a dog rolling around after a good dinner. Do it.

Hope you haven't banned XOX.

xox,
Jon

Must admit I have been guilty of this crime. I do not even know how it began! One sad day, it just became habit!.....(oh the horror and shame of it)

You do however have quite a valid point and I do not blame you one bit!

Really, in a polite conversation the only acceptable method of conveying laughter would be the Popeye-esque "Ahguhguhguhguh". Don't you think?

That makes you officially the hardest mate I have on MySpace! You are rock!

I have hated the whole LOL thing in years and realised a long time ago it was a crap way to end a line of convo - like "over" when you use a CB radio or something? As for RATFLMFAO - does anyone actually do that and type it at the same time? I think not! Its not physically possible. If it is Im sure it will be a matter of time before it is featured on "Britains Got Talent".......I am shuddering at the thought! Please note I didn't say *shudders at the thought*....I thank you.

HAH!

I got this far down without cracking up, but I just lost it.

I want to try to get into this PALOL, since my use of 'LolWhatYouDidWrongHere'
hasn't worked in the past to express my point of view on the subject.

Kudos on the funniest Srsbzns journal entry I've seen in a long, long time.

Okay, I'm totally with you on this, but the one that drives me insane is "IMHO" ("In My Humble Opinion"), because, if you were truly HUMBLE about your opinion, you wouldn't VOLUNTEER it, would you? You would only share it if you were pressed. In the words of Charles Schultz, "AAARGH!!!" (Don't strain yourself IM-ers and text-ers, that's not an acronym.)

Hahaha, I approve of this blog. Whenever I talk to someone online and they use the word "LOL", my expectations of their intelligence goes down by about 50 notches.

It's bad enough when people use it after something that's funny, but it's so much worse when people just use it randomly. I've never met anyone who does this, but I have heard that there are people who exist who say "LOL" aloud when they find something amusing...

These people should be crushed by a steamroller in my opinion. Now that would be something to "LOL" about...

You've also got my approval. This trend has gotten way out of hand. Believe it or not I overheard a girl say "LOL" in a conversation... but, she didn't really laugh.

Weird.

Thank fuck someone else hates "lol" or anything along those lines

Where i live theres been a dramatic increase over the past few months/ maybe even years of people using it in actaul conversations.

For example - "nothing much just going out and that lol"

Where the "laughing out loud" was i do not know. All i do know is I immediately left the area.

o well, bye

What about "LULZ"? You know, the stuff that the new foes of Scientology, 'Anonymous' crave. e.g.
If I said to you in a text-based message that "I did it for the LULZ", would that get me blocked?

Just curious.

Can we just use "snicker" instead?

I chat with a local friend who uses THAT abbreviation-that-shall-not-be-named and it makes me mad. To me it says "I don't know what to say or how to respond, but instead of feigning interest, ignorance, or just saying what I fucking mean, I'm sitting here snickering nervously, to myself, most likely without pants on.
"

I hate LOL too. Hate it! It feels kind of creepy. And inevitably it comes after someone has put you down in some way that they think is funny and they then want to lighten the mood.

WTF?!

Anyway - are you still in Brighton or are you living in Berlin now? Noah says goo.

I know this is a little late to comment, but I agree with you so much I felt the need to say something.

I think some people throw in the LOL every chance they get because they can't think of words to write. It's like they're actually typing out what their brain is doing at the time. (coming up with nothing)
