...How did RC_Mowgli win when I had 4,411 plays and he only had 1,019...

because, there were people cheating their play counts, so they decided it wouldn't be fair to pick the person with the most plays, rather, they picked at random =/..
....yes, it sucks...

It's impossible to actually cheat. Sure, I left my Scobbler on, but I left my computer on for 2 weeks straight. Everything got sluggish so I had to reformat. Only a true fan would do that. "Cheating" would be the only way for someone to win anyway. Everyone else is doing it, so you wouldn't have a chance to win under the original rules. The rules were "Whoever had the most plays.." It didn't say anything about cheating. So rather, instead of a contest, it became a game of chance. I'm cool with it though; there's always a next time. I just like playing by the rules.

I'm not cool with it at all..  they made the rules, they should have abided by them instead of making it arbitrary..  that's complete bullshit..  Regardless on HOW a person got their plays, they said they would pick the 3 people with the highest, they should stick by those rules...   I am very, very unhappy with Kamelot..

Thanks again guys!! :)..
....
....And by the way, I won and I didn't 'cheat' or leave my computer running. When you're spoiled by Kamelot's music and Roy's vocals, there isn't much else to listen to besides Kamelot and Conception...LOL....
....Just thought I'd put that out there ;)..

I seem to recall that the contest said that they would pick the three highest lastFM Kamelot listeners..  if that didn't mean highest Kamelot play counts, I don't know what that means..  Nowhere did it say, although we said we'll pick the three highest play counts, we're actually going to just pick three people at random, thereby spitting in the faces of those individuals who love Kamelot so much, they'd do anything to win..  These people pissing and moaning about people "cheating" are just bitching because they didn't think of it first..   As far as I could tell, I had the second highest play counts for Kamelot songs..  I should have won.  According to their rules..

.. Kamelot announces the Kamelot LastFM Fan Contest! .. ..3 lucky Last FM listeners will win a fan package of Kamelot's latest album Ghost Opera in Vinyl "signed" by the band as well as a Kamelot Tee Shirt, Kamelot Photo book "signed", Kamelot Picks, and more.

....Register to win by sending an email to: ..kamelot@kamelot.com..
subject: Last FM Contest

..Tell us how many play counts you have on Last FM for Kamelot songs, include a link your profile etc...contest will run until the 30th of September 2009, so you have ....until then to get as many plays in as possible!....

actually the rules were very very vague. made vaguer once they were alerted to the fact that cheating was possible. the way they did it was the ONLY fair way to do it ;)

Congratulations to the winners!! If there's another one in the future, I hope to win this one! :D

But I don't understand people that are complaining... a contest is a contest, this is not the apocalypse if you don't win it!

Kamelot rules!! ;D

Some of these comments are quite upsetting.  Enjoying Kamelot has never been about winning contest for "things" or for the recognition of winning said contest.  Its about the atmosphere, the story and the passion behind the songs they write.  Getting upset at Kamelot for faking how many times you were actually listening to win something THEY are giving away to their fans is pretty saddening.  I'd expect more than ego fueled desires to win a contest or to be that materialistic from Kamelot fans.  We all should be pretty damn thankful that there is music like this that exists rather then the same regurgitated mainstream music.  Thanks Kamelot for all the awesome memories and giving us what most of us consider the pinnacle of music that  is out there!

How can you be sure the band picked the winner when it's more likely  a sponcer or label employee made that desicion.
Far too often a band will come up with an idea for the fans and the label add people run it. Or some geek co.  the band hired to track the contest made the desicion without asking the band.

First of all.  To the people who are whining. When you are so pissed about not winning the contest go to my LastFm page and bother me there, no one really wants to read those whiny comments about not winning the contest. I couldn't help I had won, I didn't even knew the rules I just enjoyed Kamelot music and didn't bother who "cheated" read the LastFm page. I know Kamelot already from Karma, that my play counts are so low is just because of the facts, my winamp crashed before I joined LasFm and I didn't join LastFm since I knew Karma. Otherwise I would have like a million plays. I know I don't have to defend myself against you people, but really how can you say you know the rules. They've never said how you could win, just said get as many playcounts as possible before the ending date! I really want to know why I have won, 'cause believe me I was as suprised as you guys are. If I didn't win, I still had won because I had the change to listen to Kamelot and therefore I win every day.
Second. To the people who has congratulated me and the others, thank you! I really appreciate that. Shows that you are not as jealous as others ;)
