I was in the Deptford Arms last night and had a quality trio of Guinnesses. I made conversation with Philip, the barkeep who had an amusing T-shirt slogan('the 80s were shit'). Once the football had stopped they put the question time debate on. Popular politics down the pub; fine. It's just a shame they had that nasty man Nick Griffin on. Although he came across badly I can't help thinking that this kind of exposure may legitimize him in some quarters. At the same time I was heartened by how articulate most of the audience and panel were. I hope they show question time down the pub more often anyhow; I prefer it to football.
