Current mood:motivated

So, as you may know already, I have been training for The Nation's Triathlon.  The training has been tough but incredibly rewarding.  Everyone on my team has progressed by incredible amounts.  Personally, I am feeling behind the power curve but between my three jobs, I have not been able to be as dedicated to training as I would have liked.  I know, excuses, excuses.  Either way, it has been an amazing experience.

I still have not gotten used to getting up at 5am on Saturday mornings but I have been out to almost all of the weekly trainings.  Today's training was brutal.  We swam for 70 minutes, Biked for 40 min, Ran for 20 min, back on the bike for another 20 min, another run for 15 minutes, one more time on the bike for 15 min and then end it all with a 10 minute run.  Ouch indeed.  I think the understatement of the year would be to say that I am tired.  Beyond exhausted is probably more precise.  But what a great feeling when it was all over.

Why am I doing this?  Numerous reasons but let me go back a bit.  I have been doing this radio thing for a long time and when I moved back to South Florida and started working for
93 Rock, I decided that I wanted to use this powerful resource known as radio to do something positive for others.  I decided to do the MS150 which is a 150 mile bike ride for Multiple Sclerosis.  In 2007 I rode alone and this last May my friend joined me (hey, my team sized doubled!).  After the ride he and I as well as another friend of ours decided that we wanted to do the series of sprint triathlons that are done in Key Biscayne and do it for a charity.  Two days later, Team In Training came into my world.

Team In Training is exactly what I had planned on doing with my friends but on a larger scale.  I jumped at the opportunity and it has really changed my life.  I am obviously in better shape and that is certainly one of the benefits but I and everyone on my team knows that whenever the waves during our swims get rough or we see that hill coming up on our bike ride that we aren't ready to tackle that someone out there is fighting a tougher battle.  The quote on the back of the shirts they gave us sums it up for me: "If you think training for an endurance event is tough, try Chemotherapy".

So, now I am asking you to help.  How?  Well, the reality is that most of you on my MySpace friends list here I haven't actually met.  I may have talked to you on the phone, given you tickets to a concert, or just added you because I liked your profile and figured we have at least one thing in common (our taste in music).  However, if each one of my MySpace friends pitched in $10 then I can reach my fundraising goal fairly quickly.  That's it, just $10, give more if you'd like of course.

It'll take ten minutes of your time and set you back less than the price of a drink in South Beach.  The link to donate is
HERE.  Also, check out the Team in Training site and please don't hesitate to ask me any questions you might have about the program.  I will be doing more of these events with them for sure so consider joining me.  Anyway, thanks in advance.  Rock On!
