And He will judge between the nations,
         And will render decisions for many peoples;
         And they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks
         Nation will not lift up sword against nation,
         And never again will they learn war. (NASB)

Isaiah 2:4

Commentary

    The nations of the earth have been caught up in warfare since the dawn of human history. Yet in a future glorious day there will be an end to all weapons and warfare. This will only be possible because of the reign of the Prince of Peace (9:6), the Savior King whose Name is Jesus.

"Swords into Plowshares" - A plowshare is a blade of a plow used for tilling the soil. The prophets Micah and Isaiah both spoke of making plowshares from weapons as a sign of the peace to be accomplished in the coming reign of God (Is. 2:4; Mic. 4:3).

Isaiah 2:4 (NIV)

What does this mean to me? In this turbulent time of war in the Middle East, these are words of comfort for those that would see this war end. I know I am proud of soldiers who risk life and limb, but I sure wish that they didn't have to. I don't think God is up in Heaven deciding which nation is right in this war, nor do I believe God intervenes on behalf of those who keep good in their hearts. But I do sincerely believe that goodness and love will always prevail in the end - fairytale stories I know... but I keep faith in my heart that this is so. It would ne nice to live in a world where weapons are not needed for protection, nor used for the furthering of a political agenda.

Each time I visit Calverton National Cementery (about three times a yr) there are more and more children born in the '80's buried ... my heart is broken over and over again as I walk past these babies. In 2007 there was an area almost empty--and my first visit this year~ mother's day 2008 that area is filled; headstones are adorned with footballs, Super Man characters etc --just writing about this now has emotionally touched my spirit. My prayer goes out to the families of these babies-

In looking at this i say thank you Jesus and I hope everyone can acknowledge that we HAVE trained for war, but that can all become apart of history too. Train for peace, teach peace, live peace! How we think, act, pray, and grow; all effects our world(s). Our children will learn from our example no matter what, can we make it a good? Yes, we all can.

God......Please empower our actions, for we create reactions; help us to practice positive and accepting behavior so that it and us will grow and bloom into a truely prosperous world for now and for the future. Ohm. Amen. Hallelujah.
