Eye to I Opening Night Reception June 12th, 6pm-9pm at Space Gallery,
765 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO. Artists will be in attendance. Show
will run through July 11th.
2 artists exploring the figurative portrait in oil, with 2 very different eyes.
Penelope
Caldwell employs a loose, painterly approach. Her large figures command
attention with their moody intensity. Her art speaks to gender, race
and culture. The work is driven by her experiences in Haiti, Nicaragua,
Honduras and growing up in Africa and Brazil. Penelope searches for a
seemingly improbable constellation of drips and dabs of pigment that
coalesce into a moment of recognition. Penelope lives in Southeast
Wyoming, and holds a MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. She is
directly represented by Space Gallery. Learn more about Penelope
Caldwell at www.PenelopeCaldwell.com.
Marie Vlasic likes to
call her painting style “realistic impressionism”. Her technique is
very deliberate and layered, resulting in paintings with a lively,
luminous quality. She is infinitely fascinated by humanity & the
body, and with modern culture in particular, as evidenced in her many
paintings of interesting, tattooed subjects. This show includes as
models local celebrities Chris Parente (Channel 2 news) and Michelle
Baldwin (Vivienne VaVoom, Burlesque as it Was). Marie will also be
showing at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, July 3, 4 & 5.Learn more

Note: This exhibit will be covered live on-air by Chris Parente, on the Channel 2, 7pm Broadcast June 11th.
