I remember the first time I saw Willy perform with Mink DeVille, and he was like this wild untamed gypsy gliding across the stage. You could look around the room and see the audience completely fixated on his every move, swaying with his every sway. He literally took my breath away. At the time, they were a local band with a unique sound and vibe, and they played by their own rules. Willy's voice sent a shiver down my spine in a way that I can only recall happening a few times in my life. He was so full of passion, & bursting with soul. I remember thinking to myself 'oh girl, you better work a lot harder'. He kicked things up a whole lot of notches for all of us.
Anyway, if you've never heard of Willy DeVille, please take a little time to discover how amazing he was. R.I.P Willy DeVille, 1953-2009.
