sotto voce never even got a chance to
jump the shark, which is unfortunate. i would have loved to have jumped the shark for the thrill of it. had we known that the last sv with the hotel alexis and brian michael roff was the final event for an undisclosed and unknown stretch of time, we would have made a bigger deal about it and been more visibly moved at the close of the evening.
alas, we weren't to know how things would unveil and unfurl. sotto voce has been a truly wonderful experience for us, allowing us to selfishly enjoy the music we respect in absolute silence and reverence, along with said musicians' inventive, beautiful, amusing, and provocative self-made videos. we've had some good laughs, some broken instruments, a glitched computer program, a few tears, and lots of applause. thanks so much to everyone who did so much to make sv a fun creative endeavor. you all know who you are...
will sv be reincarnated or resuscitated in the next year? perhaps. there's loose talk of nate becoming involved, chris greiner, or jay boucher taking a more dominant role. doodad and winters will always be the integral parts of the sv collective, whatever version it is.
thanks again, peeps. we'll miss seeing your faces in the glow of good music and film.
all our best - rebecca + the sv compatriots
