Hello , Dan-O here from The Sports Center. I just wanted to drop a quick line and let you all know about an upcoming show here at The Sports Center . October 27th -Chris Koza ( Minneapolis) will be stopping by with his band in tow and this is a show I would HIGHLY recommend . I've recieved alot of press kits from different performers who are touring around , wanting to line up shows etc. Some of the press kits are really impressive, color photos, multiple CD's, record reviews etc. etc..

Well, when I recieved one from Chris Koza, it came with a basic info. sheet and a burned CD with 6 songs featuring a few tracks from his different CD's. Attached to it was a hand written note , asking for a date . Well as a rule, I try to always give stuff a thorough listen and when I gave this one a spin, I was floored ! The songs were excellent and we booked a date ( Oct 27 ) I liked it so much that  I requested an advance copy of copy of his latest " Patterns"   ... I was floored yet again .. This is one of the best, if not THE best CD I have heard all year. Chris Koza's lyrical styling is economical and intelligent and he has a gift for stating phrase that seems both  highly personal and universal all at the same time. Musically , he is simply one of the most melodic, and catchy writers I have heard in years. At times he reminds me of Bruce Cockburn , other times I hear The Shins or even Paul Simon.  Anyway, I don't see this guy staying under the radar very much longer. He's too good ! If he does, then there is something terribly wrong with the music biz ..  We've had some good ones here at The Sports Center , Brett Dennen, The Long Winters, Rocky Votolato & Vicci Martinez  to name a few , and if you were at and dug any of those shows , I can assure you that you'll enjoy Chris Koza . Somewhere between indie pop and folk music , his sound is very palatable and far reaching. Good Stuff !

Look, I'm just trying to let you know in advance on this one , because I know that there are alot Halloween parties going on that night  and since Chris is not a local/regional performer , obviously he will probably not be here to play four times a year. Besides , dressing up like a goof and getting drunk with your friends is not something you should just do at home. you should go out in public , if you're gonna go through all that trouble.    You'll become a fan of Chris Koza's ,enjoy a great show which includes Junkmail ( Seattle) AND wear a costime and be a drunken goofball !

Ps- Chris Koza has cool glasses !
