Dear Friends and Music Lovers,

Welcome to our September House Concert Newsletter.  We hope you all had a great summer and we'd like to extend our prayers to those being affected by the wildfires.  Our hats off to the firefighters on the lines.

Our summer House Concerts went exceptionally well and we're already busy booking our 2010 series, which we are VERY excited about.  Meanwhile, we've got four really great shows left this year.  If you haven't been to one of our House Concerts in a while, you are missing some truly great music and some very entertaining evenings.  We hope to see you at an upcoming show sometime soon.

*** OUR MOST RECENT SHOW ***

Our August 22 House Concert with Susie Glaze and the Hilonesome Band and Fur Dixon & Steve Werner certainly lived up to the billing as the exceptionally FUN evening that we had promised.  Everyone had a great time listening to Susie and her wonderful band in the first set as they performed a whole mix of great music and styles, mostly showcasing Susie's remarkable voice.  Then Fur & Steve knocked everyone's socks off with a rollicking set of good time music.

For more details, you can read a wonderful review of the whole evening at:
(Thank you Peter for this great review.)

Thank you to Susie Glaze, Steve Rankin (mandolin and vocals), Fred Sanders (upright bass and vocals), Rob Carlson (guitar, dobro and vocals), Fur Dixon and Steve Werner.  What a great summer evening!

*** OUR NEXT HOUSE CONCERT ***

On Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 8:00 P.M. we will be hosting a House Concert for the band STONEHONEY.  (Space for this show is going VERY quickly.  There's no doubt that this one will fill up soon, so get your RSVPs in quickly.)

Stonehoney serves up a home-cooked soul stew of good time, American music with plenty of sweet vocal harmony to spare.  What started as a "songwriters in the round" quickly became something bigger and better than the sum of its parts.  Veteran musicians Shawn Davis, Phil Hurley, David Phenicie and Nick Randolph create something special together in the blend of their voices and depth of their songs.  A new sound has emerged that transcends genres and blends elements of country, folk and rock into a unique new sound that is both fresh and yet somehow achingly familiar.  "One of my favorite aspects of this band is that everyone seems to feel invited in by our music, from pre-schoolers to senior citizens" says lead guitarist, vocalist Phil Hurley.  "It's like there's something for everyone!"

If you like the Eagles, you'll LOVE Stonehoney!

Equally at home on the concert stage, rocking a honky-tonk or in the comfortable confines of a House Concert, Stonehoney has the rare ability to adapt their set list and sound to their environment.  Strong showings at the International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis, TN in both 2008 and 2009 have lead to bookings at Sisters, Kerrville and Falcon Ridge Folk Festivals as well as the Old Settlers Music Festival while at the same time Stonehoney continues to rock out clubs from The Knitting Factory and The Mint in Los Angeles, to Park West in Chicago to Tootsie's and the Billy Block Show in Nashville.

"The power that comes from the quadruple lead singer assault of Stonehoney is a force of nature. The beauty of the music is rivaled only by the genuine personalities of the guys: great playing, great singing, great songs, great people!" —Eric Lowen of Lowen & Navarro

Stonehoney's CD is one we listen to all the time and we know you will, too.  These guys put on a GREAT show and we expect this one to fill up quickly as they have a very loyal following, so please RSVP early.

Here is a link to a short Stonehoney music video:

The suggested donation for the evening is just $15 per person, payable in cash at the door.  All the money goes to the performers.  We will also have our usual "potluck" style coffee and dessert buffet.  The show is called for 8:00 P.M.  Doors open at 7:30 P.M.  RSVP today to Russ & Julie at houseconcerts@jrp-graphics.com -- We look forward to seeing you then!

This concert has been generously sponsored by Rick Hermelin, Licensed Massage Therapist.  This is the tenth straight summer that Rick has sponsored one of our House Concerts and we are truly grateful for his support and friendship.  If you need an experienced massage therapist, you can reach Rick at 805-494-8481.

Please help us share the magic of our House Concert experience with others... bring your friends!
