One of my goals as a musician is to get a song on National radio. My dream finally happened.
In the early 1990's my favorite baseball player was the slugger for the Dodgers, Darryl Strawberry. One day he decided not to show up in left field for a game because of drugs. I was so disappointed I grabbed my guitar and started singing, "No One's Bigger then Baseball". I then recorded it in the studio and even played it with my Rock band, Magic Pagoda. We called that version "Straw-Man" if you get the pun.
Years went by and one day a friend suggested changing the chorus to, "We Love Dodger Baseball". The notes worked perfectly so I booked an appointment with the studio but this time had two professional rockers play on it for some edge. During the past two years I have been trying diligently to promote it. I would go to Dodger games and hand out CDs to players and people in high positions. This year I went to a game and got to enter the VP
section and hand out CDs. A few months went by and I still heard nothing. Finally after a few email exchanges with a VERY COOL person, Ronnie Facio (Chairman of the Board at Fox Radio 570AM) told me the following good news:
"Thank you for the Dodger Song...I love it! I'm going to use it the next time we have a Dodger on the show. Much appreciated!"
2nd email:
Hey Randy, I've been using the song and will continue as appropriate. Thank you Randy!
One day I envision this Dodger Anthem to play on Diamond Vision as thousands of fans chant, GO DODGERS, DODGER BLUE.
