Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master. Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer. Had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world. He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today. Feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us.
Not too long ago, I was asked to put on my traditional native dress and to share some of my teachings with hundreds of young ladies from ages five to fifty-five. As I was getting ready, I realized, sadly, how many days had gone by since I last worn my beloved regalia...put together not just from fabric and thread but from the love of my sister, Otsitisto. What parts of life had made me so busy that my roots, the very parts that make me Gaia, could be so easily put in the farthest and darkest corner of my closet? It was then my eyes were reopened and I again started to look at my life. I put on my dress with a new appreciation in my heart and it showed. I recieved many positive comments during the day but.... still there was this very quiet unknowing-restless-uncertainty in my spirit. I was scheduled to leave the women's circle around noon to go to another gathering place to share the meanings and customs of traditional dance. When I arrived, I found other brothers and sisters in traditional dress preparing to sing and dance for the gathering. When the drums started to drum out Mother Earth's heart beat and the warriors started to sing praise to Creator...it was at that exact moment my spirit was free again and all of the unknowing-restless-uncertainty was gone. The world is a thief and so are its many parts. I would invite everyone to find those most beloved parts you have left safely hanging in the farthest and darkest corner of your closet and readdress their importance. Put them on and wear them proudly, as they are part of what makes you...the unique, loving creation of God. Then lastly, but never finally, find a gathering of like minds to feed your starving spirit so it may again take flight.....away from the thief and unto Creator. ANA
