What is it about certain intangibles in life that makes so many of us want what we don’t have, or what we’re not allowed to have? You know what I mean. Gays wanting traditional marriage, a female wanting to be a part of an all male school, or the extreme - a dude wishing to don the eyeliner and miniskirt and to become a woman!

Help me to understand. Why carryon such an arduous and toilsome plight? Don’t get me wrong, but I absolutely love women’s sports, in fact, I am a strong supporter and advocate of title-9 in collegiate sports. So why petition or even sue someone over something that you are already afforded?  And before I go any further, I know some people are going to argue that gays aren’t afforded marriage rights, but I will argue that marriage has been, and always should be between a man and women.  Hey, I don’t mind if you give them all of the same benefits, just leave the term marriage to opposite gender couples.

I ask this question because of a story I just witnessed where someone is suing to be in an event with that is already available to them.  Are these decisions not setting a scary precedent for years, and even decades down the road? Think about it. What’s going to happen when someone appearing to be female walks into a womens bathhouse, drops their towel, and then BAM! (Use your own imagination.) You may think now that something like that could never happen, but just look at all of the changes over the last decade. It could happen!

So before you think about suing over something that you are already afforded, think about those who don’t even have one daily meal to eat, a roof over their head, shoes on their feet, or a guarantee that a genocidal army isn’t going to kill them while they sleep. Yeah, think about that!

It is true, there are way too many law suits being filed for ridiculous causes. I think that the judicial system has gone crazy. It has been for some time now, i.e. Woman suing McDonald's because she spilled coffee and burned herself. That should have been laughed out of court, yet damages were awarded.

I just think that some sacred things should stay the same, and I have no problem with all female organizations, or whatever. It seems that some women especially feel that there's something to prove by getting into an all male school or club. I don't, and I respect women the same as men. Oh well, be it male, female or one of those in between folks, someone will always feel the need to stir the shit pot.

You are right about some women. I personally don't see what is to be gained by getting into an all male organization. But some people, male and female have an obsession with doing things just to prove they can. As you say "stir the shit pot". The right to vote and work for a living=good, shared gender locker rooms=bad.

Shared gender locker rooms? That would be nuts. I guess some people feel the need to prove themselves beyond their gender. Whether it's a female basketball player (a good thing) wanting to play with the guys, or a transsexual issuing a pole dance challenge at a strip-club (bad thing) some people will always be creating controversy in places where there is none, or too much already.

I think it is the nature of the beast- we have always wanted to keep up with the Joneses, we have always wanted to have what we feel we are being denied-- whether we are or not..in my humble opinion.. we are a very immature society..

You're exactly right. We're a bunch of spoiled brats. Spoiled to the point that people can find the time and resources to litigate over frivolous and unimportant matters.
