Great things about the new Indy film-

1) Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen).  The best of the Indy women was clearly missed in the other films, and this film would have been dreadful without her.

2) Some great moments seeing Indy becoming his father.

3) Some excellent references to the other Indy films.

4) There won't be two more sequels to contend with.

Four things that really sucked about Indy 4.

1) Lucas wrote it.
2) Lucas produced it.
3) ILM obviously recycled effects from their work on other films (Mummy Returns, the Mummy, Return of the Jedi etc..)
4) Spielberg out "spielberged" himself with the ending.

My biggest gripe about the film was that it was almost as if Indy was just walking around leading us into the next big special effects set piece, when that has never been what the series was about.  Too many times Indy was just standing around when some whiz bang special effects were going off. 

The film was at its best when Indy was kicking or punching someone.  Pity that after all this time, Lucas still doesn't have someone around him that can tell him that he's lost it.
