Category: Writing and Poetry
once you start reading, you will realize this is a comment or response i made to another blog....is one that i follow on wordpress.  and i'm getting old and tired, and need to leave this world of "instant writing" to pursue what i can in finding what happiness means for me.....and how that relates to purpose.  have determined that writing here is a nice crossroads.....and good place to regroup and work on one's thought.

but i have cemented that thought for myself, unintentionally, in this one comment i worked on today.  and it sums up EVERYTHING i have been trying to say here, for the last 3 years.  this is as close as i'm going to get......for the message i have to somehow come across.  so with no further ado.....

Blog 736....the final.  (my thesis developed and completed within the strangely adequate university of MySpace)

to better
********************************

the only problem i have....is that if mankind is well aware of the probability and penchant for a mind to create patterns or acknowledge patterns where they don't exist, or where their meaning is limited......why is that considered mental illness?

you see....it's OK if you're terribly unoriginal.....and get off on finding Jesus in the knots on trees or in your bowl of lucky charms.

but if you have greater ability within the realm of imagination.....the correlations one can establish as a single entity, for the purpose of a wider comprehension of ones demesne.....those are considered to be "delusion" and cause for removal from society as well as forced injection of mind altering substances.

and that is a punishment pronounced and carried out by those working to get every member of the populace "believing" in the status quo or establishment's "idea" of how each person should be perceiving their reality.  it's NOT about TRUTH.....it's about control.

and what the heck is wrong, if a person DID have such propensity to ward off radiation?  (in addressing the comment above).  what do you KNOW?  perhaps the burrito you ate for lunch, caused the puzzling reaction.  talking about numbers....and the ability to quantify the probabilities for coincidental correlation....how many DIFFERENT things did you do that day?  and then next, is how many different things did your lab partners do that day?  what is the weather like.....what news do you have on the latest sunspot activity?  hell.....there's a million.  but THAT is NO REASON to DISCOUNT your result.  if there is a lessening of radioactivity....something is blocking it.  unless you believe in ghosts or something.....the more LOGICAL choice is to NOT write off unusual results, and rather explore the possibilities for cause.  JUST BECAUSE those possibilities are too numerous to wrap your head around....does not mean that "it's crazy and there is no cause."  hello?  unless you have some reason to believe that your equipment itself is on the schizophrenic side, or a thousand years old.....there HAS to be quantifiable, a justifiable...a reality that explains a change in result.  and the thing is.....when the possibilities that could have created an instance, are too numerous to explore.....that doesn't "erase" the instance.

JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT....THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT AN ANSWER ISN'T THERE.

and yea....the fun explanation is that you have superpowers that day.  and it is natural to gravitate to reasoning that bolsters one's concept of "self."  so what.....that doesn't discount it as a possibility.  but it also doesn't erase other probable reasons for the results of your findings.

the fact that you were curious enough to note changes....well, that's like a normal function of a mind that wants to learn, and establish its own set of boundaries for the reality considered.

but your reaction....to discount any findings that do NOT COMPUTE to established RULE.....that right there....is programmed into you by society.

just because you can't find an answer, doesn't mean one isn't there.  and it DOESN'T erase the question.  the thing is.....we are taught to believe there are to be no questions without answers.

and so....if you can't find an answer, you conclude your question is wrong.....lol.  i mean, it's kind of funny.....that a person will be MORE willing to completely discount the SOLID nature of their own observations....rather than to face the "HORROR" of a question left unanswered.

and sorry for butting in there.....i know it's a boys club.....and i don't normally take into account other comments on a blog, and apologies for that.

thing is....your topic is right on......and it's VERY important to sort out these definitions.  when our society can call "psychology"....which is one step over from astrology and crystal ball reading....when society can call psychology a "science".....that rather dilutes the meaning of the term.

and then, of course.....we get down to the nitty gritty....which is "agreed meaning."  we have all come to some sort of consensus on what "science" means.

and i'm trying to communicate here.....what am i communicating?  why is it important to me?  why should i give a rat's ass, to sit here and take this much time out of my day, while trying to get people i don't even know, to see what i see?

because i don't see things the way the rest of the world wants me to see them.  and i'm looking for my own answers.....

like is there some sort of need i don't recognize, for people to all be following like sheep and not creating their own deductions?   i see it as wrong, but perhaps it is a necessity for a cohesive society.

but the follow up question, is what bright minds have come up with the current reality presented and forced upon the public?  because there is a lot of shit that's wrong.....just plain wrong, like in any universe, under any sun or god or logic or down right plain ass sense.  lol.....

so i don't like what's going on.....i believe commerce and profit are limiting the abilities for intelligence, and working to create some sort of mailable body that suits their design for power, money....we all make good little consumers, and the ants go marching on....

so i don't have answers.....but i know from enough of my own observation....that a good number....a very large number, of those being fed to the public, are incorrect.

and THEN you get into the fun science, of determining objectives.  my objective here, is to just continue the thinking.  show you that there are steps even farther past the ones that you have considered.

i don't believe in "arts" and i don't believe in "science."  and i believe theology to be an interesting form of entertainment.  what i DO believe in....is PROGRESS.  and that is placing one's theorems, within the realm of society and mankind, and our ability to create and define "better."

my "contribution" to this "world" is that there should be a THIRD school of thought on university campuses.  a THIRD school.  we have the arts, and we have the sciences, with their respective degrees.  but we NEED a school of PROGRESS.  a master in that school, would then be an MP.  there would be subdivisions for communication, technology, and public content.  and whereas current schools of communication focus on the "how"....the school of PROGRESS would always be focused on the "what and whys."  what can we do better?  because if you notice....i type with myriad of dot dot dot....and it would be nice if these idiots would develop some NEW and handier, punctuation.  progress would look at the RULES of our society, and determine their feasibility for bettering the state of mankind.  hell, we are using the SAME shift key on our ELECTRONIC keyboards, that was first developed like a hundred years ago for MANUAL typewriters.  and it's still as annoying and slowing and inconvenient as ever.  but does anybody ask "why" we're still doing that?  and how retarded do we really have to prove ourselves to be?

in technology......who the hell decided on the shape and usability of the cell phone?  and when they determined that there is a possibility for brain tumor or problems arising from the em field....why in the hell are they still making them the same?  that's like majorly f-ed up.....they should be designed now as a unit with a line or feed for headset as the only form of use.  unless those scientific studies were complete bullshit....and THAT is what a school of PROGRESS could work to determine.  it would OVERSEE the results generated by the sciences that are fed to the public.  it would oversee the ramifications and appropriate nature of various arts, based on OUTCOME....not somebody's idea on how to make the most money (case in point, taking dead bodies and filling them with plaster).  it would find ways to present news items, for example....stats ....without the "less than/more than" spin.....

and this would be done by STUDENTS.....people of THOUGHT with no vestment in the results.  CURRENTLY...decisions of these nature are being made.....by those with POWER, not KNOWLEDGE.

we need a third school.....and i don't care what they call it, i just decided upon the name "progress" as the best fit.  but we need something.....because it's going beyond ridiculous, and i'm tired of every single game on this planet, being rigged.  and i'm tired of the populace appearing to have no mind of their own and no understanding of their right to ask questions.....their RESPONSIBILITY to ask questions.

i'm tired.....and my tired's tired too.....people need to wake up.  yes, you're starting to think, but don't stop there.......which is better for mankind.....to believe in the miracle of being a survivor.....or to comprehend the complexity of random execution?

and what I'M asking....is what the hell makes YOU think YOU have the RIGHT to determine for others, what their perceptions for that will be????

THAT is called, a real question.  and my answer is, you don't.  you all try to work an elitist foundation of superiority via knowledge.  in other words....you come up with theorems of a complexity that only 5 percent of the general public could grasp.  then you crown yourselves correct.....and easily dismiss ANY contest as the workings of a lesser mind.

and that's another thing i see......progress, gentlemen.....how do we get from "here" to there.....

You really ARE brilliant, you know.  You must know that.  A third University School -- it should replace the others.

work in conjunction with them.....and it should have been there all along.  is like a school for inventors..... for it is mind-boggling that in our "enlightened" age..... those interested in exploration of new methods and ways to better accomplish a collective goal, are REDUCED to choosing between science and/or medicine, and the arts and/or teaching.

if we took those minds....and put them to work in the field they are actually good at.....then i think we would have a better world.  i'm pretty sure of it.

and thanks.....it took a lot of work.  if thinking is work, that is *smiles*

Yea, i'm not sure why we have so much of that....and such a STRONG....and i mean iron tight......resolve that persecutes those who do not wish to follow as sheep.

the radioactive thing was a gentleman who was noting readings on his meter in a lab class.  and he saw at one point, where moving his hand closer to the radioactive reading element, made the readings go down.  in other words, normal would be if what you held was radioactive, it would go up. or there would be no reading or a random type of result.  but to consistently lessen.....is not in the realm of "normal."  so he jokingly theorized that his hand was a "super dispelling force against radiation."  and i don't have enough schooling or education to theorize......but seems to me, that it would simply indicate that a source of radiation was coming on a specified path, which the hand blocked each time it approached the geiger counter.  but since he didn't come to that possibility....perhaps it is taught that no human matter could interrupt a radioactive reading.  so then we have other possibilities.  bodies CAN interrupt radio waves.  so is some of what the meter picking up, radio waves rather than radiation?  or....is there a condition or electrical field....a possibility of human physiology....that could indeed, interrupt radiation?

anyway.....the points i was trying to make, is that it's a good thing to be asking questions.....it's not crazy or out of this world insane to be noting things OUTSIDE of the realm of some preconceived notion of reality, or "truth."  that is how we can come to our best understandings.  but out world discourages that....and thing is, that young man, should have been allowed, should have felt free....to bring up his observations in class, and ask the collective for ideas and reasons.  but he can't....why????

I think you have some great ideas here, and you also touched on the two key words that keep ideas from fruition; power and control are the great denouncers of creative thinking. Practically all aspects of out civilization from the beginning are based on them. Who could make fire? Who could kill the mastodon? Who made the best weapons? Who could hoard the best and most vital stuff? We've progressed through millions of years, and we are still the same in so many ways. Religion? Same ideas. My God is better than your God, my Gods are better than your one God, you can't get to heaven unless you get straight with the son of God. NOBODY KNOWS WHO OR WHAT GOD IS OR WHERE, but they will be bigots, killers, crusaders, and consistently violent for the sake of humanly produced propaganda!

it's the pot calling the kettle black.....it's the hand shooting the foot, to spite the face.  at some point, we have to have one common goal.  and according to published findings at this point.....that goal is going to force itself into play soon, as the simple and utter survival of mankind itself.

i don't think we need to justify end of the world bullshit scenarios.  it's time to start putting our minds to something a little more productive.  we HAVE the ability....it's time to recognize the equality, and need.

thanks, Dan....

you rock you know Love you dearly. Keep this up and I'll have to go back to college for a fourth degree to be able to at least try to solve some of your above observations.  Funny I am about to return for some classes on the computer and whatever else strikes my fancy. The government sends us senior citizens for free.  Anytime I can grasp a little bit of knowledge I will take it. You are truely gifted.

hey thanks....i just see something like what i outlined here as our only shot at some way to start protecting the public from these ploys and deceit and everything else, that arises from our democratic free-commerce world.  we need a balance, and college kids have been working that "school" for AGES now on their own!!!!!!!  they hold rallies and protests.....trying to wake people up, and show them what needs change.....in so many ways, the school of PROGRESS is already there....it's just not formalized.

and the public....rather than being able to turn to PROGRESS for realities and change that are genuinely geared for betterment....they are turning instead, to political leaders, who are BOUGHT by the VERY companies causing the problems in the first place!!!!!

so anyway.....i think that does it for my worn out little soap box here.....thanks bunches, clarice, for being you?  love you too.....remind me of my own grandmother, in a lot of ways

I like the idea of thinking further and questioning actions and who we are. If more people did that instead of blindly following routines, politicians, leaders, etc, we'd be a lot better off.

i think we would be too....i know it's strange, but i sort of visualize a society like presented in the fiction of star trek.....where there is very real value placed on human life, rather than exploiting.  where leaders aren't bought and sold by corporations.

and what better answer, than to put the power in the hands of the students?  number one, seems to me it would mean we'd make sure we taught them a little better from the start.  and number two....public necessity for full representation....would open the doors at universities to find more ways and REQUIRE government to take seriously the NEED to make higher education readily available to EVERY economic class.  period.

the reason they don't do that....is because they don't want the lower classes to be educated.  because then they might start asking questions.  and they would ho hum on how they have ten thousand different scholarship programs....the majority based on grades and sat testing....NOT IQ testing.  most lower and middle class students have to divide their attention and work their way through college, rather than being able to concentrate on their education.  it's beyond absurd..... when we are spending billions to keep something like the car industry afloat.....

while at the same time....universities exponentially increasing their fees.  and we're all really happy for you higher class folks....but if you don't start opening up those doors....the class you are working to suppress is going to knock them down for you.

One of the main things I so admire about you, E, other than your word-smithing, is your guts. I love that you question things and don't just blindly follow along. I love that you're intelligent enough to verbalize all these questions (and they are GREAT questions) in a way that anyone can understand.

Agree with you about needing a third school of thought to study these things. Students might be the ones for the job, except that working at a university has opened my eyes to how much the students here in America take for granted. Seems that most of them have an overblown sense of self and entitlement, and of course, being young, they are invincible. Now, granted, they have the young, questioning minds needed for such studies as you propose, however, it also seems that a vast majority of them would rather socialize on Facebook or MySpaz than do any serious work. In other words, far too many of them are just plain lazy. They want everyone else to do the work for them or hand it to them on a silver platter. The non trads are the ones who take it seriously...but then, most of them pay for it out of pocket or by working a full-time job, too.

I know that wasn't your point. And Dan had the right of it, too, regarding power and control - it's the alternate golden rule (he who has the gold makes the rules). As long as money and power are part of the main equation in this country (and the rest of the world), I kind of doubt we'll see any real shift...until, as you also pointed out, survival of the species is necessary. Which, imo, it already is...but again, those with the money and power have ways to lessen the impact of things like, oh, I dunno...global warming, the disappearance of bees, pollution, etc. Throw enough money at it and it goes away - at least for a little while, anyway.

I respect your cynicism, E. I share it, even. We can always hope that somehow the things WE do will make a difference for lots of others, even if it's maybe not world-wide. I know you've influenced quite a few people just here in the MySpace realm...and probably even more in RL, me included. I like the idea of "Dr. Hell and Back"...lol. It won't be the same around here without you. Thanks for always keeping it real, E.

well goodness....thank you, that made me feel better while sitting here tonight trying to figure out what i'm going to do with myself.

am a little concerned that i'm becoming an agoraphobic.  i try to find perspective, and tell myself i'm just getting old and becoming a homebody.  plus there are practical reasons for not going out too much....i have quite a bit of computer and electronic equipment now that i would rather not see disappear, like in ways i've been burglarized in the past.

for the longest time, i just didn't buy anything nice.  that was it....i didn't even get a computer until my aunt when i was in california, decided to give me her old desktop machine.  and that got me started, until i found myself trading up to the current desk top.....and it just sort of kept going.

and now, every time i leave my place, i have a certain degree of anxiety.....that my stuff just won't be there when i return.  so i've got to solve this somehow....i don't think in the long run, that spending so much time at home is healthy for me.

need to seriously take a look at alternatives for my life right now.....and come to some conclusions.  one of the recent "changes" is that i'm in less pain.....because have finally decided to try over the counter decongestant for my chronic sinusitis....and it works.  so i'm getting relief from that pain, that i've had for over 10 years now.  it's unbelievable how one can get so run down, that you give up the idea of ever feeling good again.  and the doctors never did anything for me.....the last one told me it must be migraines and to drink mountain dew.  that's all they gave me.

and since the headaches are not plaguing to the same degree, my digestive system is straightening out.  and have also been focusing on cutting processed foods ....where you actually have to take the time to fix things.  with no soda....things like that.  trying also to get my weight back to something that doesn't horrify me.

add to that, my break up with my sister, and my reconnection with my son.......it's actually a wonder i haven't gone a little schitzo.  feel perfectly balanced, but i was serious when i wrote in this about being tired.

i honestly don't get it.....i don't understand why our world is the way it is.  it doesn't make any sort of sense....unless you go into some sort of science fiction scenario where aliens are ruling the world and exploiting humans as much as they can ..... for god knows what made up reason.  but heck, even that makes no sense.

but it's like....the ONES IN POWER HAVE ALL THE BETTER EDUCATION TO BEGIN WITH.  THE ONES IN POWER HAVE THE MONEY TO BE MAKING THE CHANGES AND TO ALREADY BE TAKING CARE OF VARIOUS ISSUES AND MAKING SURE THAT THE PUBLIC IS ADEQUATELY INFORMED TO BE CREATING THEIR OWN PURPOSEFUL DECISIONS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THEIR LIVES.  THE ONES IN POWER HAVE THE ABILITY TO ACCOMPLISH WHAT WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEING NOT BEING DONE.

so it's like the only conclusion is that the ones currently in power are psychopathic assholes...either that or they're actually monkeys busy scratching their butts all day.  it's the only possibility...they don't seem to have any awareness that THEY are human TOO.  and they don't appear to be taking seriously any responsibility regarding public stewardship.  so i have no idea what is going on.  it might well be that we are all SOL....and some giant unavoidable disaster determined by our science.....makes the entire planet a sinking ship anyway.  so those in power and in the know, have switched to "immediate gratification stage."  it's just about the only explanation that fits.

but IF there is some kind of future....i think the best chance might be a third school and depending on students.  i realize the attitudes now are pretty bad....but it's their future, after all.  and i think we are going to need them to help us save it.  and the principals of schooling are rather universal....it is almost the ONLY true universal body that we have.  and it might be enough influence....might.

the other option would be to establish a private company that actively monitors information and knowledge fed to the public.....and does it's own research or verifications and publishes the realities, as well as making its own inroads on suggesting changes that amount to "better."  but would take large investment and starting funds, and then if it had no viable means of revenue....ends up dependent on contributions....and then next thing you know, the rich are again pulling the strings and it's all down the tubes.

and it's not like the poor people can storm beverly hills and set a guillotine on rodeo drive.  we are out of options....our forebears effectively created....well, with the way we set our country up.....they effectively created a monster.  because they DID NOT anticipate those in power, having no consideration and no honorable stewardship of public wellbeing.

so we have a situation...where historically, the poor would have risen up 4 decades ago and effectively changed their plight.  but instead....they shoot john lennon.....and then become more concerned over one death, than god knows how many in over-seas "police actions."  and i'm sorry....but by god, they should be giving just as much honor for a soldier's death, as they do for ONE musician.

but that musician played the part of "decoy royalty."   the real ones in power....that if the oppressed rose up and killed.....that if dead and gone, there might be some VERY REAL changes......those ones in power are effectively hidden.  even the president of the U.S. is simply one more puppet....we all know that.  he's a puppet king.

so i don't know.....and you're right, one hopes to make a difference.  i PAID for what i see, by every minute i spent staring at the inside of cell in a psychiatric hospital.  i PAID for it with every moment tied to a bed......i PAID for what i can SEE now.....and the only way to EVER make it worth it.....is if somebody hears.  is if the answers can make it so my kid can live in a world that actually appreciates life.  that would make it worth it.  other than that.....i'm just one more piece of refuse that society decided to use as a lab rat.

think a lot of people are seeing the truth of how big business is jerking the public around......in some areas.  but really is amazing how these people of power are allowed to shape our realities....

Having a mind of our own complicates the preferred order of things. We are taught what serves the realities of the day and never mind asking "why". Political correctness seems of greater priority than living and dealing with realities. Science and methodology is too complicated for most, though we could adapt to thought patterns you speak of. The power of advertising alone plays on peoples' vulnerabilities for gainful purpose. We are what we eat...and so it goes.
