We're a folk duo. We should be playing folk clubs, right? Somehow it's just never happened. We don't have the contacts - what we have are lots of contacts on the slightly weird indie type band circuit, so we play lots of slightly weird indie type band nights. Which is fine, it always seems to go down really well. But it still seems silly that we've never set foot in a folk club as a duo.

So we finally got our act together to go and do a floorspot at Croydon folk club on Monday night. I love Croydon folk club, it's friendly and unpretentious and they have some great acts - that night it was Nancy Kerr and James Fagan, who were excellent. It was quite weird our being there from the start. Then we got up to do our floorspot in the second half. We did two fairly uncompromisingly Salt & Blue numbers, the first one (La Sansonette) somewhat out of tune, the second one (Song to the Siren) went better. We still have no idea whether people liked it or not. Perhaps they didn't know either. After that the evening stopped making any sense whatsoever.

The whole thing was very, very strange...
