I've just remembered another bizarre 'Loonies tale:
Whilst in the gripes of recording the "Mad Frank's Zonal Disco" alBUM, your 'loonies Popkids and Wheelie embarked upon a surreal discussion (it must've been during that long phase when Tony had already "laid-down" his drum tracks and Wheelie had an eternity before drunkenly shouting down a microphone... Tax and Clipboard were wrestling with the musical(?)guitar nonsense).
The upshot of said verbal intercourse, was that the band should embark upon a rendition of (the then-hip) Blur song "Park Life", cleverly altering the title (and, therefore lyrics) to "Pub Life". In place of the Phil Daniels talking role, it was suggested by the gruesome twosome that Oliver Reed should be approached. This acting offer was then put into motion, with the amazing result that, "Ollie" (aka "Mr England") agreed (one suspects, slightly pissed). Then, on the 2nd May 1999, the one-time Mr Bill Sykes passed away, leaving the project unfulfilled, mere weeks following the idea's first fruition.
I still think it's an idea (good or bad, you be the judge).
If we try and struggle with said Blur dittie, who do YOU reckon would be the best prize-drinker to fill Mr Reed's shoes?
Answers on a beer mat (or via this site) please.
