The cops are in trouble.
They should have kept thier mouths shut, said they were sorry, and it was a mistake to arrest Gates.
But, no.
They continued their history of intimidation against the victims -- only this time, it won't work.
Why?
The cop's worst nightmare -- a black man in the seat of power in the whitehouse.
I don't believe the whitehouse is going to allow the police, "law enforcement" organizations, or any of the terrorist gangs-in-blue to intimidate them, the way they have been able to intimidate local people, politicians, and judges.  They may step cautiously, but they will step, with a boot harder than any of our outside enemies have ever felt.
Somehow, I think the whitehouse (with the guns of the entire  pentagon behind them) is somewhat above local thugs intimidating them.
As well organized and connected as the police are, they are not as well connected as the "feds" and federal government as a whole, and most of their "power" and "connections" come from feeds to the federal computers and agencies -- which can be easily cut.
Maybe we'll finally get the change we need for EVERYONE -- white, black, man, woman, -- EVERYONE.
Maybe Gates will find he's even more important than King, (either of them) or any other force for change in a long time.   But just like the police should have sucked up, apologized and moved on, Gates can't start swinging his dick wildly in the wind.
Change needs to be planned, and without reactionary appearances.
Maybe change really is in the wind -- big dicks waving or not.

But threatening the whitehouse -- no matter how veiled -- when your "power" comes from the resources and laws they provide -- is dumb, dumb, du-  er _STUPID_  :)
