1. Goths and Emos are the same -

This could not be more untrue!!...lol....Gothic and Emo are 2 totally different sub cultures. I have no idea how this rumor began, but it is extreamly false. Gothes tend to artistic and excentric people. They also have a fasination with the paranormal or life after death. Hence the pale faces and heavy eye makeup. When this culture first surfaced the makeup was meant to be very excentric and grim much like a corpse or vampire (which is considered a living corpse). Our extreame fetish and dark style is suppose to be our artisitc view of things that society over looks....untill that one day of the year we call Halloween. Which is when society celebrates the afterlife. the Emo style derives more from punk variations of  music, and directly related to music roots where bands put on emotional performances in the 1980's. While Goths style derived from the facination of the after life or excentric artistic expression.

2. All Goths are Vampires / think they are Vampires -

This is an intersting rumor. It isn't totally true, but yet not completely false. Vampires are accually a Sub culture to the Gothic crowd. Usually one becomes involved in  Vampiric beliefs or practices after being in the gothic culture and stemming off. The practice of the vampire culture is also not what one would think. While not all goths become involved in Vampire religion, goths have a respect for that culture, and a facination with it in general. Sometimes that fasination evolves into something more, and sometimes it doesn't. and no the vampires you see on tv and the movies are not comparable to the vampiric religion. Although theirs style resembles that, their beliefs do not. Just as 1 example. It is against the laws in the vampire religion to drink blood. Although a small portion of their culture will partake in blood letting or drinking through small cuts its highly frawned apon in their culture as a whole because of disease. In general they practice energy feeding from willing individuales.

3. Goths are all Wiccan -

Much like the vampire religion not all goths are Wiccan. This is yet another practice that stems off the Gothic subculture, and holds a great respect in the gothic culture. While there is a large portion of Goths that are wiccan there are many that are not. Notice how both Vampires and Wiccans are similar in their practices with types of energy. Both having a great appeal to life and the afterlife. Hence why these types of religons stem off of the gothic subculture. I myself have been looking into Wicca and become very interested in both the vampire and Wicca subculture.

4. Goths tend to be more violent minded than other individuales -

I have heard this so many times!! I think this surfaced after the Columbine shootings because both killers (I wont even dignify them by saying their names) wore trench coats and all black at the time of the shooting spree. However it has since been revealed that they weren't apart of that culture AT ALL....and they accually disliked goths. I also think this stemmed from another famous murder from the early nintees where a teenager who played the controversal game Vampire. Killed his girl friends parents and licked their blood off his fingers. Lets get one thing straight.....we (goths and all the subcultures included) find these individuales just as sick and twisted as every other sane person!! It is obvious that these individuales had a lot of mental problems and coulden't tell reality from a game, or they had serious metal disorders where they coulden't identify normal human emotions a.k.a (sociopath). Keep in mind....most people that have these disorders are normal looking everyday people and can range from every walk of life. Its unfortunate these two events catagorized the gothic culture as dangerous in its entirity.

5. You can tell a goth from everyone else by the way they dress -

In some cases yes you can tell. However thats usually with the younger crowd....like highschool...maybe college.....when its easier to dress that way...however among the mid 20's and up you usually can't really tell. I myself work as a admin....so I have to dress conservatively....much like all my friends with day jobs...lol. You will see me wear black with jeans casually, but when it comes to going to gothic clubs thats when I break out my dark attire...lol.

6. Whats with female goths and corsets / lingerie?!!

lol....I get this question....a lot!! Now I'm going to answer this one from MY personal perspective because some people may have different reasons for dressing in corsets and lingerie. The reason why I believe this is done is back to the first topic art and expression. In my opinion a womans body is a work of art, and the corset was originally designed to enhance the womans hour glass figure which was admired and considered beautiful by so many. A lot of the gothic culture is based around art, and expression. I personally love corsets because it enhances my figure, and its original. Remeber corsets originally were made to wear out doors, not just as lingerie. However I think as time evolved and corsets became lingerie, we naturally began weaing all different types of fetish type costumes because we found it to be beautiful on a womans figure.

excuse spelling errors.....I have to get my thoughts down quickly and sometimes errors come with that!!...lol

No, spelling errors are unacceptable. LOL.

I always considered myself an "inner Goth/Vampire". I'm too insecure to wear the make up or such, but I do wear a lot of black. I have a great fascination with the Goth lifestyle, vampires, the dead and undead, Wicca, and the macabre in general.

I have drank blood before, but it was from someone who I had been in a relationship for a while and knew was clean. But it was only the one time.

It's nice to see someone setting people straight and dispelling the stereotypes.

Thank you very much!! I decided to do this because I was sick of the stereo types myself. Mainly the one where people think goths and Emo's are the same...lol...please!! No offence to Emo's but Goths get insulted when we are compared to them because its two different things!!
