Current mood:  peaceful
In the words of Michelle Obama, "I have never been more proud of my country as I am right now." This IS a patriotic statement.
A statement testifying to a nation living up to the potential of it's promises.

We can not stop smiling. We're overwhelmed with a deep sense of peace and calm. Perhaps President-Elect Obama's innate calm is infectious.
We can't stop kissing our children, we can't stop thinking about how the world must be seeing America today, friends and foe alike.
We can NOT STOP THANKING, THANKING YOU, THANKING OURSELVES, THANKING EACH OTHER ALL FOR ALWAYS BELIEVING.
Even when it didn't seem possible in our lifetimes.
This moment will pass, but the energy of this moment is an everlasting one, forever changing who we all are. We will seize this seismic shift in our consciousness to propel ourselves into a future brimming with possibilities. As President-Elect Obama (I love typing that!) says, "it won't be easy, we're gonna hit some bumps along the way," but bumps never stopped America when we set our eyes on a common goal. This is what America and Americans are about, seeing an opportunity, an open door, and marching boldly, optimistically ahead toward the realization of the dreams of our fathers.
Our founding fathers. Our mothers. Our torch bearers. So here's to:
John Hancock
Abraham Lincoln
Frederick Douglass
Harriet Tubman
Mary Elizah Church
Susan B. Anthony
Margaret Sanger
Eleanor Roosevelt
Fannie Lou Hamer
Madam C. J. Walker
Shirley Chisholm
Helen Keller
Barbara Jordan
Thurgood Marshall
Adam Clayton Powell
Harvey Milk
El Hajj Malik El-Shabazz
Martin Luther King
Jack Kennedy
Robert Kennedy
Teddy Kennedy
John Lewis
Jesse Jackson (his tears said it all last night)
Madelyn Dunham
Stanley Dunham
S. Ann Soetoro
Barack Hussein Obama Sr.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for making a way for President Barack Obama.

Martin Luther King's dream fulfilled.

But the world is a more dangerous place for 8 years of George Bush (and Tony Blair).

It will be an uphill struggle to repair the damage done, but everything starts with one step. Take the first step and the rest will follow...
