“We
have only ever produced and published music that we also personally enjoyed.”
This statement stems from the mouths of the founders of Milk & Sugar. You
may be astonished that even with this rather uncommon philosophy, they still
managed to make it pretty far in the music scene. So let’s rather start right
at the very beginning.
During
the spirit of the first Disco-House wave which started in London and hit
Germany in 1996, Michael “Milk“ Kronenberger and Steffen “Sugar“ Harning
started producing their first house tracks. After having been rejected by a
couple of record labels, Michael and Steffen turned the situation to their
advantage and founded their own label.
Initially
they produced all the releases themselves but a short while later they had
taken other artists such as Robbie Rivera and Kid Alex under their wing. With more than 120 releases already
under their belt, Milk & Sugar now count as the most important Houselabel
with the highest output in Germany. Just recently Paul Gardner, one part of
UK..s famous funky house duo Soul Avengerz, and Chris Lake („Changes“) were
signed to Milk & Sugar Recordings.
Milk
& Sugar had their biggest success with chart-breaking tracks such as „Love
is In The Air” and “Let the Sun
Shine.” These songs have also become classics in their genre and should never
fail at party. Since then, many top stars such as Usher, Janet Jackson, Reamonn
and Jamiroquai have trusted the Munich boys with remixes for their songs. Their
recent single “Stay Around for This” has also been successful in 2007and 2008,
with being the biggest house record in Brazil and topping the UK club charts on
position #1 twice(!).
Of
course one shouldn’t forget that in addition to all this, Milk & Sugar have
gathered several years of experience as DJs . These German-boys are
internationally recognized in their field. Very few other DJs have as many
international bookings as they do. From Hong Kong to Brazil to the heart of
Siberia – there’s almost no spot on the map where this Munich duo haven’t
entertained eager partygoers. And as long as they maintain their mindset “If it
pleases the crowd, it pleases us”, they will be continue to be a force to be
reckoned with for a very long time still.
Since
this year Milk & Sugar are placing a huge emphasis on the medium Dance
Radio. Their shows on Big City Beats, N-Joy, Global Radio Ibiza, as well as
several other radio station throughout the globe reaches hundreds of thousands
of listeners every week. Consequently, twice a year they release a compilation
CD with all the clubmusic they love. Their current “On A Mission 2008”
compilation contains 2 CDs, one for the peak time and one for the poolside. Due
to their very special contacts to the most important labels in the biz they
were once again able to include some exclusive and previously unreleased tracks
on their new masterpiece. There war also a big CD releasetour from October 2008
until December.
