10/20/07  The Smokestack crew have been running through some sets, prepping for their gig on November 3rd at The Little Bar, (just above Lane ave. on High St.).  I believe it's the day of one of those games, and they'll be playing before and after for a few hours.  Check with them at http://www.smokestackweb.com/blog/ for details.

The recordings have been moving along, as Perkins has been busy working through the guitar tracks and Ress is working through the keys.  They caught another Sunday session here in September, nabbing a few more sets of drums and bass.  Rees will be cutting vox in a couple of weeks, and the blending will begin.  If you are out in the masses on the 3rd, stop through and give them a listen.  They are not the type to dissappoint.

8/05/07  Smokestack Lightning spent the afternoon in the studio today, and caught a number of tracks for their forthcoming album.  We sent Rees to the top floor again to scratch vox as we cut the drums, guitar and bass.

After they took about 6 takes of a couple of Smokestack classics, Rees pulled out the keys and they spent an hour running a few takes of three new songs.  It was the first time that I had heard them, and was anxious to hear the results of their recent writings.  After things wound down, Jason and I spent a few minutes roughing some board mixes from the day.

All in all, it was a very productive session for Smokestack.  It sounded like they got the drums for five tracks total today.  We'll see the final take once they get a chance to listen back to the set.  Smokestack will be back in early September for another tracking session, as well as a few sessions in between to work bass and vox on the tracks from today's run.

6/24/07  Smokestack played their last scheduled show for a few months down at The Thirsty Ear last night.  They are going to focus more on their writing and recording over the next few months.  We will be scheduling some recording dates for them as they work on an album of originals.  I would imagine that this new direction will yield great results for them over the next few months.

3/15/07  Smokestack Lightning have posted a few of their tunes on the Smokestack Myspace site, three of them recorded here with the browndogs.  It has been a great few weeks, as Rees and Jason have spent many an hour with us spinning through mixes and turning the knobs.  They will be at The Thirsty Ear this saturday, St Patty's, along with Huntington, WV natives Luke Jivetalker.  Check their space and check the place, St. Patty's at The Ear.

3/10/07  St. Patty's Day is just around the corner, and Smokestack Lightining have been making frequent visits to work through some mixing and vox.  They will be playing at The Thirsty Ear in Grandview next weekend, and are hoping to have a few songs printed for the show.  It's has been great fun having them in the past few weeks.  Should be a good summer...

3/1/07 Dan and Jason have been through a few times recently cutting vox and working mixes.  They will be down at the Thirsty Ear on St. Patty's day, and are looking to have a disc with some live tracks and a few studio cuts also.  The browndogs and I will be seeing them soon as work continues on their next album.

11/19/06 Dan Rees come over recently to work on a couple of vocal tracks for their album.  The sessions went well, and with Jason adding color commentary, a good time was had by all.  Look for them at The Thirsty Ear on New Year's Eve.  They are hoping to have a sampler CD at that time of their recent recordings.

11/11/06 Some of the fellas from Smokestack enjoyed a little escape to the Smokies last weekend.  Check out their page for some pics of their journey www.smokestackweb.com.  Dan P. has been busy cutting his guitar tracks at his house, and here at Brown Dogs, we've been working in their mixes.  Dan Rees will be stopping through over the next couple of weeks to finish off some vocal tracks.

10/29/06 Smokestack Lighning were back visiting the browndogs last weekend, and caught a couple of takes.  The Sunday afternoon rolled along smoothly, and we expect that Dan and company will be visiting frequently through the winter months as they complie tracks for their album.  www.smokestackweb.com
