review in MRR issue june 2004
there are four bands on this release, and they are NYI BLORONG (Malaysia), AGGRESSIVE DOG ATTACK (Philippines), LEAD II NITRATE (Singapore) and OPUSAN BANGSAT (Indonesia). the styles here are widely varied. i really liked the straight forward, aggressive punk of Opusan Bangsat. plus the female vocals were a nice touch. the other three bands were decent, cramming in a variety of styles from pop to grind to metalcore. (with LEAD II NITRATE playing all the styles from one song to the next). the only downside to this is release is that the AGGRESSIVE DOG ATTACK tracks were so lo-fi and raw, they were barely listenable. (RC - Rob Coons)
life 5 : ROT/ Death Slam split CD
this CD is to celebrate 14th anniversary of both band, both bands have play for more than 10 years, ROT is one of inspired grindcore bands in this world that give alot of impact to the people in underground metal scene or DIY HC punk scene, death slam also from brazil playing grind crust, imagine how this CD sound like when these two band put in one release, new and unreleased tracks
life 6 : ALL THESE WHILE... (Malaysia)/HIGHSCORE (germany) split CD
Took me a couple listens to warm up to All These While... (from Malaysia) Give it a passing listen and it's just raw noisy hardcore. Sit down and listen to it closer and it's raw noisy hardcore. The fire of their music is in its simple straightforward approach. Reminds me of Larm, without being a direct rip off. Blunt lyrics on racism, homophobia, betrayal, and George W. Bush, among other topics. With every subsequent listen, I'm liking these guys more and more. Highscore ( from Germany) have a bit of a fuller sound with youth crew influences mixed in with thrash. I like them better on this split than their LP. The songs are fast, pissed, and have an edge that is undeniable, However, they need to stay away from covering Black Flag's "Rise Above" and Reagan Youth, Highscore are definitely a good band, but Reagan Youth or Black Flag they are definitely not. Despite this minor complaint, if you're looking for straight up hardcore with speed, then you can't go wrong by this.
review done by Matt Average in Heartattack 44
ATW raise the curtain on Malaysia hardcore for you living in the dark ages. Sloppy fastcore is their game. This reminds me of the tons of fast thrash bands on the old BCT comps that never made a name for themselves but managed to do their best regardless. Lots of heart with their politics in the right place. German vets HIGHSCORE kick out 6 semi-recent studio tracks (all released i believe). a REAGAN YOUTH cover and some very strong live stuff. Good Vibes and strong recordings make these live songs my favorite stuff by them. German hardcore lives. SHORT, FAST + LOUD 13
edge 7 : Blast from the far east 3 CD
another effort of documenting southeast asia DIY music in year of 2006, with 5 grind/crust bands merged their music and artistic talent in more than 60 minutes, with proletar(Indonesia) fallen world(Singapore) paraconflict(phillippine) SMG (Malaysia) failure trace(Thailand).
edge 8 : Severed Head of State/ Scum Noise split live CD
live recording onto CD, no doubt about the quality of sound, the front cover artwork done by marald (doing tons great artwork for state of fear, wolfbrigade, assrash, destroy, profane existence zine, etc)
SHOS delivered very energetic live recorded sound . The music is an onslaught of power that can be described as the inbred bastard of Detestation and His Hero Is Gone with a distorted beast on vocal duties /while scum noise is a really crazy brazilian thrash crust legend band, they also doing cover from driller killer and olho seco.
edge 9 : Pack/SOL split CD
Taken from their split LP , re pressed onto pro CD for their southeast asia tour 2005, The release never being release into digital shit before, Read a review taken from PE 46
Holy Shit! This fucking split tears it up. Pack comes from SwitzerlandGermany playing a similar style as Pack but with a bit more a metal edge and is fucking amazing. Both of these bands sound tight as hell and with great recording quality and song writing. This split LP comes in a cool gatefold sleeve with silver foil stamp on the cover. Think about how many bad hardcore bands you've heard come out of Germany and Switzerland because I haven't heard many. Highly recommended. (Chad)" (Profane Existence 46)
edge 10 : Dead by 6/ Dead Symphony split CD
metalcore to technical HC to deathmetal influence from these 2 bands , Asian metal hardcore split release. For pure satisfaction of metal and hardcore mix up, here is the answer. Dead by six is from singapore and pull the track of the cross of black dahlia murder and catharsis and dead symphony again pull high energy of metal hardcore music. 24 tracks overall included songs from their demo.
A collaborative effort by two DIY death metal HC bands from Southeast Asia, with each band haveing five or six new tracks, plus their respective demos attached at the end of the CD for an added bonus (24 brutal tracks in all). Muically this is super technical death metal (with tons of epic-sounding black metal influences) with gutterally screamed vocals .
edge 11 : Kurwa Aparata / Co-Arse split CD
after more than 3 years, at last this split CD out - its fucking awesome. one of the releases that give a big memory for us, Kurwa Aparata is Austrian d-beat crust punk band, delivered drunk noise. Co-Arse from Phillippine, played raw crust grind punk .. noisy with cover songs from Dissober, Svarsmalt, Severed head of State...
edge 12 : CBU - Stumpf ist Trumpf CD
7 unreleased tracks plus 5 cover songs (chaos UK,discharged, Mob 47, Subhuman and Rudimentary Peni) from german crust punk bands, 3 songs with kelly (defiance, detestation, severed head of state, etc) on bass, suppose to be project band, but included in this CD. the CD is released on CBU southeast asia tour 2006 (starting on 10 nov) with old line that played in CBU 10 years ago, Julia - vocals, Werner - guitar, Roland - guitar, Moritz - bass and Oliver - drums/vocals
edge 13 : The Bollocks - Revival CD

The bollocks is a first Malaysia punk bands that released 7EP back in 1995.
edge 14: DISCONVENIENCE - " Umeå Punk City LP + War on wanker 7″ CD
Disconvenience from Umeå Sweden plays angry '77-style punk rock attack in the veins of X-Ray-Spex mixed up with Bikini Kill, then the Avengers and Penetration, but they do it in their own way with strong Swedish flavor! It's noisy, dirty and just so punk! This CD released for their South East Asia tour but the tour is cancelled. Very nice co release with Cactus Distro ( Malaysia ) Prohibited Projects Records ( Singapore ) Dellusion of Terror Records ( Philippines )
edge 15 - FALL TO THEIR DEATH - chains in transmission CD

And this CD contain all their previous material, a self-titled EP (under Yellow Dog Records), a split-7″ with the Horror (under Zandor Records) and also the latest Whole In The Head 7″ (under Crime Scene Records) plus 2 unreleased songs. All in all 17 songs.
RHAPSODEATH PRODUCTIONS RELEASES
DEATH 05 : BLACKFIRE - The Hereafter Live CD
Legendary Malaysian doom/heavy metal pioneer Black Fire has a new release out and it's a CD with cleaned-up and remastered tracks from a rare live cassette recording of one of their very rare Kuala Lumpur gigs in the late 80s.This recording is a cult item in the local underground scene for years! Live 1988 at the Semua House Rock N Roller U5 (Kuala Lumpur's late 80s roller-skate arena where underage thrash metal kids like me and heavy metal people hung out) has been changing hands on dubbed tapes and been spread worldwide throughout the underground metal scene. The live recording here is remixed and remastered from one old dusty tape, without losing it's original sound/event and atmosphere.
The label responsible for this priceless artefact is RHAPSODEATH PRODUCTIONS who have made this available on pro-CD documenting Malaysia DIY underground/metal music history for you all Blackfire was the first extreme metal band, if not in Malaysia, probably in whole of South East Asia. Originally called as Metal Ghost in 1982, they then later changed to Black Fire in 1984, as one the first ever local band in extreme metal to sing in Bahasa. The band never actually recorded anything until recently but they did appear in a lot of rock festivals and gigs around Malaysia in the 80's. They actually received offers to sign up with local mainstream recording labels at that time but they refused to compromise!

DEATH 04 -NUNSLAUGHTER/SPAWN OF SATAN (USA) - split live CD
Released by the upstart Malaysian (Singaporian?) label Rhapsodeath Productions, and distributed by the mighty Hell's Headbangers here in the States, this split live CD is one of the best live albums I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. I am a tad biased since I attended this mighty gathering of satanic forces, the night beginning with the aforementioned Spawn of Satan (a project headed by Jim from NunSlaughter - who does the vokills in this band, not the drums as in the other), who thrashed mightily, and that is portrayed on this CD. The next two bands were Soulless and Somnus, but we shall digress from talking of them here. Then comes the mighty NunSlaughter, the last third or half of their set being on this CD. The CD comes across very well, giving the listener the feeling of being at the show, and it gets under my skin, making me want to thrash and do some hairwhippin' in the front row! All said, this is an excellent release, and should be owned by any fan of these two killer bands - MetalHordes review
DEATH 03 WATCH ME BURN (USA) /SPERMBLAST (Malaysia) split CD
WATCH ME BURN : not your typical grindcore bands. psychotic sounding female vocal, experimental/psychedelic gesture mixed between sludgecore, thrash, crust and grindcore into on solid groove + noise, sound of bands like Cattle Decapitation, Phobia, and the Vulgar Pigeons with the brutality of German chaos Acme and Morser, and a bit of the ambience found in Damad and Neurosis,
http://www.watchmeburn.com/
Sperm Blast : the band from malaysia, they mixed between gore-grind with a typical grindcore, pounding with crust sound, early Napalm Death and carcass influence with old style of Impetigo and hard pounding Haemorrhage sound, all blended together and you got sperm blast
