As I'm sitting here pulling songs for my "Classics Tribute" show this month, I'm finding myself getting stuck on what to play.  It's not that my options are low, no... that's not it.  It's that my options are waaaay to much!!  From my library alone I've got enough Funk, Disco, and Classic House tracks to fill an entire playlist for well over a month ... and this is where I'm stuck.  What do I play for the first show?
So far I've pulled some staple songs that everyone knows, some songs that you might know, and then the infamous "whats this" songs that are sure to get appetite's hungry for more ... but, damn, there's just so much to choose from.

Two ideas I have decided on for my first "Classics Tribute"  show is this:
First, I want to do a sort of "house party-feel" show.  This would include all the classics that anyone between the ages of 25-40 grew up hearing on the radio, and to this day catch themselves turning the volume up just a little louder when they're driving in their car to sing at the top of their lungs.  Heh, I LOVE those kind of songs and memories!!  The 2nd is going to be a tribute to David Mancuso & The Loft.  Since he played so many ground-breaking tracks that are played with such regularity on certain radio stations to this day, and had an impact on so many people's lives, I thought it fitting to give back to the man responsible for the blueprint of what it means to give a party.  He gave the listener and the dancer smiles from ear to ear, provided examples of selflessness that stayed with most, showed his Love by opening his home to his friends and guests  of, and politely reminded the DJ of  the all too important etiquette required when it comes to giving a dance floor full of people all you can.

Just to be clear, I'll be pulling from my own memories and library ... though, if you want, you're totally free to share your memories with the masses for certain songs that changed your life, influenced you, or just got your booty shakin' to an uncontrolable state of I-never-want-to-stop-dancing.  You can email me or drop your comments off here, and I'll add them into the Tribute special mail-out.

If you want to hear the product of this memory-jostling craziness, tune in to Brick City House on June 24th, at 7pm GMT, on Chicago House FM (just click "listen" and it'll take you to the player or launch on it's own - depending on your browser options).

Hmmmmm ... Right ... back to diggin' in the crates ....
