What a great film! I hadn't read the book - so was going in ignorant. There were some fabulous shots in the movie. Sean Penn has done an amazing job at directing this story. The casting choices were excellent: what a cast! Brilliant performances.

I don't want to say anything else, except go and see this film on the big screen.

Cool! I'm a huge fan of the book - gave copies to EVERYONE for Christmas that year - but I wanted to wait until I heard feedback before I took the plunge. What I heard about casting sounded VERY promising indeed - especially Hal Holbrook, who I've missed lately - and Sean Penn's other work as a director hasn't shied away from difficult subjects or endings. "The Pledge" is one of my favorites of recent years, although nobody likes it but me. Thanks for the report, Mia. :)
