Just got back yesterday from a FIVE WEEKS trip to Indonesia with a few days in Thailand. Had such a great time in this trip .. but mainly because I got to see my family. I haven't seen them in about five years and glad to be able to see them again. I took my dad out to Bali and Jogjakarta. He said that he is proud of me because I can do this for him. His little Rick is no longer little .. especially with this belly I have Also, I was gonna drive to the mountain with him to see my house and before he got in the car, he decided to go back inside to grab his driver license. He said just in case! Mind you that he hasn't been driving for years as he's getting older and we have a chauffer to drive him around. When we were in the car, he kept telling me to watch the sideview mirrors, be sure to use my signal, watch my speed, etc. I guess it was a shocked to him that I wasn't driving the car while sitting on his lap this time lol (I used to do that when I was little) And the trip was nice because I get to attend my grandparents' 55th wedding anniversary. We threw in a big celebration for them and nice to see the smiles on their face as well as the rest of the relatives that I haven't seen in forever. I'm blessed to have a big happy family Though there is one tiny problem with them. It seems like the first comment that came out off their mouth was "wow you got big Rick!" I kept telling them that for your typical Indonesian, yes I'm pretty big. However, in the US I'm actually considered of average size I also went to the local race spots. These Indonesian kids are crazy. They'd be racing while it pours down rain!! And some of their cars are really sick. When you're overseas, there aren't many Indonesian food available. Well .. I took advantage of this trip to eat as many Indonesian food as I can. My stomach hasn't got used to it at first so I got a diarrhea for the first couple of days. After that, it's on!! On my way back to the States, I decided to extend my layover in Bangkok, Thailand to three days. I visited the temples (typical tourist!) and walked around the city. Public transportation is great and easy to use in BKK and the people there are nice. That's why they're called "Land of the Smiles" This whole trip is VERY memorable to me and I'm sooo glad I went! Hopefully I'll have the chance to visit them more often
