Has anyone done a silly thing and listened to that symphonic Pink Floyd album Us And Them from a few years back? My ears wilted when I heard it. We're here to set it straight and make it right- my friends The Machine, the worlds greatest interpreters of the music of Pink Floyd have asked me to write orchestral arrangements of the classic album Dark Side Of The Moon as well as four other little ditties to be performed in early July when they play alongside the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, one of the country's most esteemed groups. This is sort of a dream commission for me as I LIVED those tunes during my formative years and it is a real pleasure to revisit them and see that not only do they stand the test of time, they actually sound better than I remember. The project is a huge undertaking for me but I'm up at 7 every morning eager to get started on the day's work. Hoping that it turns out great and that I can give back to this music even a small fraction of what it has given to me.
