As we do not have but each other out here for family (still haven't gotten in touch with my namesake cousin the Venice Beach policeman), Coley had the brilliant idea of going to Disneyland for Thanksiving. Surpisingly, it was actually fairly crowded. We got a pass to both parks and welcomed ourselves to the California Adventure by passing under the Golden Gates:
San Fran in Anaheim
First thing, we saw a very inspirational movie about California Dreamers through the years starring Whoopi Goldberg as Caliphia, the Spirit of California. It covered all who have made our new state of residence better, from the Natives to Spanish Missionaries to Chinese railroad builders to Mulholland (the great Dam Builder) to the Eastern European Hollywood movie industry originators to WWII women ironworkers to Cesar Chavez (the Mexican labor organizer) and the Haight Ashbury hippies. I'd say we're in pretty good company, wouldn't you?
After the movie, I got a pic of the Sun at a great moment behind a Sun Sculpture, and as I caught that wave of light, I was reminded that I am still shooting for the horizon:
Sun Behind Sun
Disneyland was quite festive, from a 40 foot tall tree

to a well lighted Small World
Big Lights for a Small World
and Magic Castle (though, for these twins spoiled by Disney World, it was quite small)
Magicastle
and an awesome Holiday Parade
Dwarfs on Parade
There was even a family with Thanksgiving-themed hats
A Flock of Turkeys
. . . and yes, we got our turkey:

Eventually, I won't feel like a tourist; but Coley made me wear this hat when she saw what I had on for the day:
Putting Steve Irwin to shame (RIP)
Still gleaming the dream, but it was great to take a break and appreciate the scene!
Let's lift ourselves up with California!!
