At what age did your self awareness encompass others?...and at what point did you realise that you were still your number one?

All of us think we are the centre of the universe when we are born, because we are; even twins, and believe me I know. There is a point for all of us when we realise that we are not, and that we are mortal. Then later, for the first time we are fearful for someone else other than ourselves; who was that person for you?

Previously, you were affected by others perceptions of you, and suffered some self esteem issues as a result of their perceptions. At what point did you realise 'their' opinions were not valid and your own opinion and values were those that really count for you? (Making you your number one again;as it should be I might add, with one whose heart is so sweet.)

Until the age of 18 months we believe that we are the center of the  universe - if we are hungry we need to be fed... "Hold on a minute" wouldn't make sense even if a child could understand the words. after that we learn differently.  First person I was fearful for, I truly don't know that answer. The only one that I can say I have ever truly felt fear for is Gavin.  I know I've feared for others on many different levels but now none compares.

I am greatly affected by others perceptions of me - it is my number one anxiety actually.  Self esteem issues I fight off now but it is difficult.  I've learned however, that anyone happy within themselves would never feel the need to bring another down.  I've learned that most negativity comes from the emptiness embedded into the source of the statements made or opinions developed.

Through my reading of Psychology I now understand people.  Besides those with Anti Social Personalities/ Psycopaths (those that possess no conscience) no one ever hurts another purposefully, no matter how cruel they may be.  They are who they are and they can't help but be that, just as I myself am what I am.  It is never personal.

My saving factor is my understanding of cognitive appraisal.  No matter what occurs, whether or not we have control of that occurance - we do have control over our reaction to the situation.  We always have control - even if we are unable to see that.  People can judge us (and I am judged more often than I blink my eyes) however, I have the ability to handle that judgement as I desire.  That is how I fight off my own self esteem issues.  I CHOOSE to not take things personally, to concentrate more on the positive statements others make to me (which is easy with my online community) and to keep moving forward as my instinct defines.  Once I began to listen to instinct I have not been led astray.  I have some days/weeks that weakness and Depression take over and strength lessens at those times however, they are few and far between now.

I hope I answered that - Yeah!  My first novel :)

Thanks so much my dearest Fiona!

A number of those statements are common sense and show some enlightenment-and possibly a bit too much introspection of which could be an issue of mine.

ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST MEETS SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

When a beautiful, abused, artistically talented Beverly Hills girl meets a Midwestern man at a resort like California psychiatric hospital hilarity, insanity and a bizarre fate driven love affair ensue. But criminals from the girls past are determined to keep them apart at any cost.

I’m Rodney Peterson the creator and writer of an untitled project revolving around a Top 40 radio station of the 70’s and 80’s (just as Mad Men revolves around an advertising agency of the 60’s) and Cutting Confessions-a fate driven comedy and drama filled love story partially set in a resort-like California psychiatric hospital-One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest meets Slumdog Millionaire-here at my MySpace blogs and at InkTip.com

Actually most of these statements are not common sense as they are self created - perhaps not the terms (and even those are obtained only by in depth education) but my personal opinions of them based on them.

Introspection - I am a poet.  That is the definition of them.  A poets gift is to be able to put into words what everyone feels but is unable to express.

Obviously - people enjoy my writing and introspection and don't view my posts as common sense.  If they did there wouldn't be enough comments on here to make it worth your while to use my blog as a basis for your advertising.

Thanks for stopping by.  I do appreciate the fact that you recognized my blog as successful enough to comment on - however, since these are my friends and readers you're more likely to attract them through looking for the positives than by pointing out negative opinions and not obvious facts.

I'm not exactly sure of what you're asking?  I am not really too aware of my myself most of the time.  Through writing I learn who I am.  I have no idea what I'm going to write when I do and the finished project is what teaches me, each a different part of myself.  Encompass others... I think it is the fact that I am brave enough (though it is difficult at times) to share the raw, honest and painful truths.  My talent is putting into words what everyone feels but is unable to verbalize. Each person responds with their own interpretation - and each relates in their own way.  I am not alone in the fearfilled emotions I express and they are not either.  Therefore, the relationship between two is developed.

Still my #1??

I've never taken a writing class besides the core courses in college... I did take poetry and it was the only class that I got a D in...  Four years ago I hit the rock bottom of my life and it just came to me.  I'd type without thinking and learn the lessons I taught only after reading the words I wrote.  There are times that I don't even know the meaning of words I use but when I look them up they fit perfectly.  I love Robert Frost and Slyvia Plath but besides that I don't even know of any "great" writers.

When I started I had no idea how to write a poem by the "rules".  That I learned with time through advise from others and the natural instincts that advice developed within me.

Educational background - BS in Elem Ed with a concentration in mathematics.  Professional degrees in web design, Search Engine Optimization and Internet Marketing.  Certifications in Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design and Goldmine.  Half way done with a dual master's degree which I can't complete now because as strange as it is to understand I was "forced" to stop taking courses by my ex when we got married and there is only a 7 year time frame in which to finish.  You can't get either degree until you finish both but I completed all the coursework for a Master's in Technology Management.... I love to learn :)

After all that I would say I am most educated in Psychology - self taught.  I read everything I can get my hands on about it and can never learn enough.

thanks Homer :)

As a woman, and a beautiful one, it can be hard to be taken seriously for anything else beside being a pretty face.
Society for the most part does not equate brains with beauty. What experiences have you had with this and how do you combat it?

Thank you first of all Nyla :)

The majority of people don't look behind the outer image of anyone in general.  I can read people well (usually).  I don't drink so I can always maintain my wit in social situations.  I always try to present myself as classy and confident and most people therefore don't approach me in a degrading manner.  If they do they regret it :)

People are shocked when they speak with me or read my work because they assume that the two don't go together.  I could hide behind a bun and librarian glasses but I am proud of all of the parts of who I am and present them all.  I always try to look my best and I always try to speak my thoughts.  People figure out pretty quick that I am intelligent.

For the most part the reaction is intimidation.

I have a few questions... so just have patience with me! :p

You are such a dear friend and I know who you are as a person. You are much deeper and down to earth wholesome than sometimes I think your erotic image shows.
Even though your erotic writing is only a fraction of what you write, I think that, coupled with your amazing modeling photographs, gives people an impression of you that is only a tiny facet of who you are as a whole.

1) How do you deal with that image and trying to keep it all in a realistic balance?

2) There are so many men who openly adore you, some who have honest admiration and some who, well, are down right crude. How do you handle so gracefully the different levels of attention you get, as I do know you are so appreciative of all who support you. I am just wondering what kind of a challenge this is for you.

3) I am going to ask this even though I know the answer! :p
Your persona would make one tend to think you are a party girl, date a lot, and have a very active dance card.
What is your views on dating, online dating, relationships, what you are looking for, and what is your romantic
life really like, is it all ribbons and bows and moonlight strolls like one might imagine?

I used the sexual image and writing to get a name for myself in some ways.  Now that I’ve developed that name I’ve altered (and I am continuously in the process of doing so) that image.  I want to be seen as a strong, confident and independent woman.  Mostly, I want to help people.  I’ve experienced so many things in life that are horrific and terrifying.  I’ve survived them and I want to lead people towards surviving similar situations through my writing, talk shows and interviews.  I want to be a type of therapy for people that don’t know how to seek it.  I believe most people see it all in balance at this point.  There are many that just look at the pictures but that’s alright… Once  you know them and they see that you care to know them, they start to look beyond that as well.

Those that adore me know me well enough to understand that I am a true friend and that is all that I’ll be.  I don’t really date at all as I am continuing to work towards my own self improvement.  Those that adore me read my words and they know the person I am and they don’t cross the line. The men that are crude… I pride myself on being graceful.  I respond openly, honestly and with respect.  I never lower myself to a standard that would demean them or myself.  Most respect that and change the way they react to me, the others disappear and that is fine with me.

I am not a party girl and I don’t “date” casually.  Actually, I am quite the opposite.  I wouldn’t call myself wholesome but I’m far closer to that the later.  I have a strong belief in fate and I believe one must dress the part to find the life they desire.  I don’t date people I meet online, period.  It is a rule that makes it easy for me to avoid difficult situations.  It is never personal, I just don’t do it.

I’m not a shallow person at all.  My main requirement is simple.  I want to be adored.  Second I desire depth – deep and meaningful conversations.  Lastly, respect is huge.  I want someone with whom I never have to wonder what they really think, knowing it is all positive.

Those I date…. Aren’t very nice to me…lol… That’s how I know that I’m not ready to date.  I have a Codependent personality and I’ve been working on that for years.  I am much stronger in many aspects but when it comes to the random date or two I go on, they continue to be abusive in one way or another.  One must be whole before they can be half.

I am a true romantic.  No matter what I’ve gone through I will always believe in the fairytale.
