A happy new year to you!
We should be grateful; we are alive, we are healthy and we are loved. Give thanks.Despite the challenges we already find ourselves in, in 2008, let's stay optimistic and embrace change. It is here.
In 2008:CHANGE.
And so the reality of this world hits home for me. I know for sure that I'm not the only one with ties to Kenya feeling disoriented since December 27th, 2007. It has been hard to focus with news about violence in Kenya flying around everywhere. It is out there and it is ugly. Unpredictability and division continues to rock the once peaceful and prosperous Kenya. More lives are being lost as I type away. As you can imagine, words don't suffice. Thankfully, my family and friends are okay.
Reluctantly, I have acknowledged that we now live in turbulent times and in a world that is anticipating major changes. Kenya's political future affects the entire East African region, entire African continent and the whole world in more than one way. No matter what the news headlines say, let it be known that Kenyans are a peaceful people. In my humble opinion, I believe that what is going on is a desperate fight for social justice amid a very disturbing power struggle in politics. The need for change has been urgent in Kenya. We are finally confronted to finally deal with a deep culture of corruption dating all the way back from colonial times.
And yet it is still a shock..... as I can imagine it is for you. The anxiety is unbearable.
So...we can all remain traumatized for days and watch like everybody else, a reflection of our very own lives being broadcast on international news.........or we can....
Look, Listen and Observe!! And take action!!!
There are:
Hurting Kenyans to heal.
Hungry Kenyans to feed.
Scared Kenyans to comfort.
Angry Kenyans to calm.
Displaced Kenyans to house.
Young Kenyans to educate
And.........Dead Kenyans to mourn.
Let's NOT turn our backs on this tragedy OR allow the divisive force that is tearing everyone apart, to linger or spread beyond Kenya.
PRAY! For a united, progressive and blessed Kenya. Pray for a united, progressive and blessed world.
We must live in LOVE and in TRUTH for the healing of Kenya.... and for this world URGENTLY!
It starts with one. With all of us. Young and Old. All tribes. All races. All religions! All Kenyans! Everybody!
Help the efforts to heal Kenya.....with LOVE and with TRUTH!
It affects us all!
We must reflect on the wise words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.:
"The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate.... Returning violence for violence multiples violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. "
May God's love guide us all!!!
Peace & Blessings!
