Dear Folks,

                    Much to our dismay, we've only recently discovered that there is already a "Cheerfuls" out there. So we decided to call ourselves "The Kanyu Tree".

The word "Kanyu" is Japanese and means "to join" or a kind of "invitation to join" .. to become a member. So we thought that kind of summarised the way we'd like you to feel towards the music .. like wanting to join in on the buzz. We also have a small Japanese connection .. the three of us spent out early years living in Japan. 

As for "Tree", well that was there from the start and you know with the family connotation.. We felt the two words made a great combination.

Some of you will take your own meaning from the name, and that's cool. One thing we're pretty sure about is that the name is not already out there!
