Current mood: okay
I was invited by some good musician friends to join them to play at a benefit for homeless dogs in East Nashville this past Saturday (18th). It was short notice, I wasn't sure where we were playing ("behind "I Dream of Weenie"' I was told) and I wasn't sure who, if anybody, would be there. Rain was in the forecast, so I was hoping we'd have a roof over our heads just in case. Well, as it turned out, I got to play with some great players, and we ran through some tunes by Jimmy Martin, Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, Stanley Brothers, and I got to play a few of my own songs, too! We had 2 guitars, string bass, mandolin, fiddle and dobro and it was fun playin' with these folks. There weren't too many people there, but all the dogs got adopted (they were wearing t-shirts that said "adopt me" on them), some money was raised, and I felt good knowing we helped in a small way. Oh yeah, and I heard that we got invited to play there again next month. I'll let you know if you're interested in either a new dog or some good ol' bluegrass music.
