After 800 years of fighting for its freedom and independence, it looks like the Irish will be voting away all of that and give away their sovereignty to foreign leaders once again.
Ireland is the last European country to have a say on this matter, if they vote no at the referendum, Europe is saved. For more details see and it's related videos:

edit: the people of Ireland have spoken: "NO!" Well, almost a yes actually - 47% yes / 53% no.
Now the battle for freedom continues, as undoubtedly those with vested interested will try to bring in the effects of the lisbon treaty through other means. After all - a lick of paint and a new name, and people might vote yes for it next time.
