The Inwood Radio – www.inwoodradio.com / www.myspace.com/inwoodradio
Blending pop sensibility with straight ahead rock undertones, The Inwood Radio,
recently released their sophomore album "Sickle Cell Bohemia," called
"one of the better local albums I’ve heard so far in 2009" by howwastheshow.com.
The Inwood Radio is Ben and Will Rajkowski, Amy (Bukstein) Rajkowski, and Ted Held.
Quilombolas – www.quilombolas.com / www.myspace.com/quilombolas
Quilombolas
is a multicultural Minneapolis based world-fusion rock band combining
diverse musical influences from around the globe. The members draw
inspiration from Zumbi and the Quilombos of old as a sign of unity in
the face of the many forms of oppression that still exist today.
Politically charged lyrics add to the fire of their musical activism,
while a constant vibe of unity and celebration abounds. In addition,
lyrics can be heard in English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Hebrew,
and some African tongues like Yoruba. The band combines all of these
elements with the belief that all people are multiethnic and
mutlicultural mixes and should celebrate the diversity that unites and
strengthens the quilombo.
“The
band’s style is passionate, satirical, and very entertaining. Blending
Brazilian rhythms, hip-hop, Israeli melodies, and funk, Quilombolas
create a unique sound with smart lyrics and a danceable beat." -Sheila Regan, TC Daily Planet
"These
guys are serious to the bone with cold-blooded chops. Their groove has
a Band of Gypsys feel-–sharp, elemental funk with wizened, coat-pulling
lyrics." -Dwight Hobbes, The Pulse
Quilombolas is Matt Levitt, Eric S.B., Lew Hill, and Luis Pereira.
Days of Rae – www.daysofrae.com / www.myspace.com/daysofrae
Days
of Rae came together to work on a songwriting project for Minnesota
Public Radio in the summer of 2008. The product of that endeavor was
the song The Gilded Road which received enthusiastic praise, including
an MPR.org
feature spotlight and radio airplay. Their live sound is clean, rich
and thoroughly entertaining. Their songs range from delicate and
controlled in Dynamic is Static to the driving, in-your-face honesty of
Act III and The Leonard Situation. Each song tells a story. This is a
genuine work-horse band that put the thought, the time and the heart
into making their music.
Days of Rae is Cherie and Shon Cobbs, Ryan Pula, and Clint Trotter
