Hello everybody out there!

Haven't written anything in here for a while...very sorry for the silence!

After finishing the biggest Wedding Present tour ever at the end of 2008, David and the band have gone back home to get some much earned rest...

Of course David only rests for but a moment... and then he's
off again! He's been busy setting up the following:

David Gedge will be performing with the BBC Big Band in Leeds on 29 April 2009. The event will take place at the West Yorkshire Playhouse as part of FUSELEEDS 09.

FUSELEEDS is a major biennial music festival that celebrates
the wealth and diversity of the music scene by encouraging
artistic risk-taking across genres through commissions and
collaborations presented in new and exciting ways. Previous festivals have
given Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood and Sister Bliss their first
opportunities to compose for an orchestra (The London Sinfonietta),
presented Michael Nyman’s collaboration with Hanif Kureishi and commissioned a major new work from acclaimed sound artist Bill Fontana, to name just
a few. David will be working with arranger Tommy Laurence to adapt
a selection of Wedding Present and Cinerama songs which he
will then be performing with the BBC Big Band, conducted by Steve
Sidwell. Tickets for the event are £17.50.

The full FUSELEEDS 09 programme, featuring over 30 events,
will be announced on 27 February at a launch event at The Leeds
College of Music but you can also visit the festival web site: http://www.fuseleeds.com/.

Fuseleeds sounds like great fun and we're all looking forward to hearing TWP and Cinerama songs done slightly differently.

David and I met up with Nash from Russian band Blast on
Thursday, several pints of Guinness later, we're now firm friends... please
check out their Myspace page:www.myspace.com/blastmoscow

Blast will be supporting The Wedding Present on their upcoming mini tour of the UK.

This sounds wonderful! I hope there's an eventual CD or iTunes release of the show. I always thought Cinerama tunes, in particular, could benefit from full orchestra...

Count me as someone who hopes for an eventual CD release of the FUSELEEDS performance.

If you would do Dalliance or Dare with an orchestra, I might find a way to get my arse overseas for this performance.
Best of luck to you all the same!

I guess the most logical song would be Spangle, but wouldn't it be great to hear a orchestral version of Loveslave?
