Chicago Reader, posted 02/02/2007 CHICAGO IS KNOWN for it's tight knit rock community and a portion of it will be getting tighter. On January 30th in the early hours of the morning, Peter Bernas left us. Peter was the founder of Made To Be Broken and later went on to join the Love Dictators. The Love Dictators were Chicago's finest Johnny Thundersesqe sleaze rock band and Peter was the final puzzle piece that took them from being another garage rock bunch to a group not to be reckoned with. He was a talented guitar player and gifted songwriter who toiled over his songwriting, solos, guitars and gear unto perfection. Peter left behind a multitude of friends and family that think the world of him. As a friend Peter made sure to be at every social gathering. Although soft-spoken, he had a unique humor and dry wit that everyone enjoyed. For his friends, he was always lending himself in huge ways by helping people move, getting people jobs, fixing or finding cars and vans for bands, translating lyrics from English to Polish, down to the simple things like buying everyone dinner and drinks. Never would Peter accept anything in return. A true heart of gold that no one could say a bad word about. Peter will be missed beyond comprehension...
