dear letterheads,
as promised, here is a finyl (tsk, tsk) update of news-ish character, just to let you in on what is probably no longer any kind of secret anywhere; alpha beta has been unleashed on the mailing-list, and as of....eh, now....on the unsuspecting world at large.

if you want to see more of the project go here:

the mentioned vinyl record is called word symphony.
here are a few track.names to bake your noodles:

side a
1 before beautiful beginnings
5 mmmyeahee
7 no mystery, no meaning
8 making it real from memory

side b
2 you & i with me
3 come backwards
4 the adjectivist
6 re verb orator

there. although there is more, that is probably all you need. the real thing is for enthusiasts and the vinylly inclined.

as the titles imply, it's perhaps a little more magne f than mags, but in actual fact it's ALL morten. nothing but, as they say. oh, well, you do the math. whatever it is is music and havoc.

thanks once a gain thanks
and hasta la vista, ∂ßs
m

ps
maybe you're not too impressed with my output on the apparatjik channel yet, what with my big announcement and all...
but one day it may just be worth the struggle. i think.
my job is to confuse. and i do it so well even i am in a daze.

As far as confusion, you are in good company, man!
I still have a ..vynil player.. - otherwise ...how could I listen to the old good albums of the early days ? So,...if there are enough copies, i'll get one and if it is ALL Morten, then I'll take it ALL ..

First: Yes, you do confuse, from time to time...
Second: I have bought an S from your alphabet. My first name has an S as the first letter....It'll be interesting to hear your new songs aswell. Keep up the good work, mr.Furu!

..OMG! For the first time in my life I'll be the first ... I am so stunned!! Well, before my head exploded like a red..popcorn want to thank everyone who allowed me to be here at this  so special occasion. My mother taught me to speak and understand the value of good comunicationand my father who introduced me to those magical bricks to build (or destroy) universes (real or imaginary), called  alphabet. This is the real big bang!! The power to touch hearts and minds using letters in a reverse process of nuclear fission but also devastating (and chaos creator). Thank you Mr Magne by messing  our minds and our emotions. Thanks for making me realize how much I am ignorant and know nothing beyond my washing machine and my sink full of dirty dishes but...Here I'm using alpha, betha and lots of letter so I guess I got the power too. Alfa beta is a new supernova in your constellation of successful projects. In your opinion  which letterwould be perfect for me??..

oh yes sir, you are very very good at confusing.  I must say that I really like track 8 on side A,  how many times i've tried to do that myself and how many times it has not succeeded.  perhaps you have been able to?, the proof shall be in the preverbial pudding as they say.

Well, Magne, I took the plunge and ordered my initial. I await its arrival with bated breath and am currently trying to decide where to display it once I have it in my hot little hands. I am also looking forward to the comments and questions I will get from friends when they see it and ask where I found it etc. "Well, it's a long story, but you know a-ha.... etc etc?"

Some of those titles are intriguing; notably "re verb orator," I have to say. As for "mmmyeahee," the mind boggles. ..

All the best with apparatjik. Yes, in my folly I have checked in there once or twice and, as ever, remain befuddled, bewildered, discombobulated... well, you get the idea. As you say, your job is to confuse but, hey, I'll come along for the ride!

Am I "vinylly inclined?" Well, not to my knowledge but I'll give it a try. Perhaps I'm more the "enthusiast."

Good luck with this project and the next one, and the one after that etc.

P.x

P.S. Less than a month until the O2! Enjoy it.

Those track names sound very enticing (and I'm already struggling not to give in and buy myself a little slice of your word cake!) You are making it very difficult! It's just as well I have immense self control! I shall not give in - I will admire the slices from afar and this letter lust will, in time fade away. :)

I love your prints and I love vinyl so.. I obviously did not resist getting something.
My hard choice ended up with a wonderful U (the letter of course! Before someone gets me wrong it's better to explain LOL).
My Payne's Grey print said it will be great to share the space on my wall.
Can't wait to see the series in London in November.

As for Apparatjik... that site is addictive, the project all to discover, something new to experience  and... I have not forgotten about the homework ;-)
Ending this post with a few quotes I hope you like from Michael Wolf's "The Catchers Of Heaven" a book I read a long time ago but that I'll read again sooner or later since I've forgotten too much about it. It is a very particular read, something different from any other book. (I don't read much so when I read a book I tend to remember more easily passages I like).

.."Say goodbye to classical reality"

"Nothing dies in the beginning"

"The only demons are the ones running around in our own hearts"

"The inability to express precisely that which you must express precisely"

"My time will be coming (not becoming)"

"But I cannot find enough adjectives not to limit nor qualify nor add any limits to the nouns"

"Wisdom may begin when
you learn
to
govern your tongue"

"Life is so difficult-like reading Ulysses in the dark"
..
to be continued :-)

Just have to make a little correction here, Mr. Furuholmen...

"The real thing is for the enthusiasts and the vinylly inclined who have a spare 240 quid."   =P    (I checked the Paul Stolper site, when I've left college & I'm rich I'm gonna be buying a lot of stuff from that gallery)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not moaning or complaining - we all gotta make a living, right? And the work is more than worth the money! x

Dearest Magne F,

You are brilliant and beautiful. I still like Longest Night more than Foot of the Mountain but that's like saying I like cheese more than wine - I still love both! Your art and apparatjik mystify me. However, I love that you love it.

Takk, danke, ta muchly, muchas grassy ass and mercy B-cup for the link to the mailing list.

Noodles baked, candle lit and boat floated! [Arches eyebrow and purses lips, in the style of Larry Grayson]. Side B sounds like a grammar exercise-- I bet you can conjugate well.

"..Vinylly inclined.."... does wearing it count as well? Come to think of it, we've never seen Magne F and Mags in the same room. Or is it a split mind kinda-of-thing? I used to have a schizophrenic manager, he was very nice people.

Maths eh? There are two types of people in this world; those who can count, and those who can't. Indeed I am all Confuscius.... well there is an R in the month.

The things we have to struggle for make us feel  most determined and therefore probably most creative.

Great yourself and Morten are having some fun with it all.

After all art is about happy endings and new beginnings.

Shine on Magne F!

Oh MAGNificent! Times like these I just wish I had a credit card! So many tempting things on offer, all so near and almost within my grasp, but for now just cannot have!(especially with London and Norway almost upon us!) I just  hope and got my fingers crossed that there'll be some left over and a nice vinyl for little ol' moi, once I'm able to get my hands on them, as they truly are gorgeous and beautiful pieces of art!..

Ps  Magne great job on trying to confuse us and absolutedly loving the apparatijik site!
Just like on here it's  something wonderful, worthwhile, intelligent, fun, intriguing and oh yes confusing and damnright complicated at times, which is the way I like it and wouldn't have it any other way,as it keeps my mind well and truly stimulated so keep up the good work.! ....

Hope I get lucky MAGNificent and meet you again one day!!

Take it easy and chat soon!

....It would be great to see all ..∂ß..s before they're shipped off to live on their new walls. I'm sure though, that would make me utterly greedy and not satisfied with 'just' the one I've singled out for adoption. .... .... .... ....Also, I'm very curious about your word symphony. But, but, but, I never knew there was a difference between mags and magne f. Must be rather intense living inside your head ;-) *makes sign of the cross*.... .... .... ....And your output in the form of the lovely quiet song IS very impressive. You know how to master the strings that lie deep within. But this is also something that makes me greedy. For: Where is rest of song? Is there rest of song? When will rest of song be ready? What is missing if it isn't ready? Why is What missing? What are you waiting for to find it? When will it be written? When can it be heard? And lots more stimulating little hints like that. .... .... .... ....Well, that's it for now... .... ....Hasta-la....right-back-at-ya  .... .... ....

I'm missing out on a lot at the mo... missed the preview night cos it's a school night and couldn't go swanning off to London, otherwise I'd have been there, and cos I'm setting up a business I'm skint. But I'm not really an art buyer, merely a fellow artist. Wanna swap something???..A lot of weird stuff is going on.... I feel empty and numb from not only the news about A-ha, but also the tragic death of a friend........So I felt glad that we still have your art and Apparatjik to look forward to - I expect some kind of Hitchhiker-esque thing from that ;-) ....I'm withdrawing into meditation until the 02 gig...

..So the keeper of the flame was wrong and we have one more year?  Guess I shouldn't always believe what I hear. But still – I am just as sad as everybody else on here and the last time I remember crying over music was when John Lennon died. I guess you know pretty well how much you have given to people – the words, the music, the feelings, the excitement. Well, I can only speak for myself and I can only repeat myself – who knows where I would be today if I hadn't rediscovered A-ha when I needed them most? So thanks to all of you for that! And thanks to whoever decided to change “Stay on these roads” after all these years!.. ..I am looking forward to the solo projects but I will miss A-ha's music. That's for sure. But I will try to manage without in the future. Not easy, but now I am really glad that I decided to get myself that early x-mas present by ordering one of your letters – so maybe I'm lucky and get a copy of the world symphony as well...  – would be nice, and by the way, my favourite Meat Loaf song...
