In typical Hollywood fashion, the A&E show "Extreme Paranormal" has portrayed the paranormal community in a very false light, effectively diluting the credibility that many of us have worked years to achieve.  The public is very impressionable when such "paranormal" shows air, even to the point that they try to imitate what they saw on TV.  A secondary problem is that people often think such "investigators" are the "real deal" simply because they are on TV.  In reality, it only means that they "look good on camera," and nothing else.  Many of the best researchers and investigators -- the real ones -- have never even been approached about a TV show, and probably never will be.

In "Extreme Paranormal," the investigators are shown performing an occult ritual that included slitting their wrists and lighting something on fire.  Their approach seems to be, "Hey ghosts, get out of the way or I'll kick you tail!"

The show is a disgrace and it does severe harm to the paranormal community.  The public sees the show, and they assume that the paranormal community, including legitimate researchers and investigators, are really like that.

The following link is an online petition for the show's removal.  Please show your support for the paranormal community and serious researchers by signing it.

The Petition

Thanks so much,

Pat Fitzhugh, Author / Researcher

I've personally never seen the show, but I think it's a shame when shows inaccurately portray situations they have no business poking their noses in.
