As time shifts all good things come to closure to reinvent and awaken into the new beginnings. We will not be producing EAST MEETS WEST in 2009. But please stay tuned- we got something you will love up our sleeves!!!! :)
Serpentine presented its fifth annual dark fusion belly dance celebration in 2008. We offered our visions and pulled together yet another one-of-a-kind show! Our crew, our family keeps growing.
The magic lasts long after the curtains are closed.
We carry it on forever as inspiration. Lucretia*Renee & Aradia have produced East:Meets:West with the vision and intention of bringing together the amazing talent of the dark tribal underground. The communities of many artists, musicians, and dancers have enriched this event and created amazing shows. As a community, we focused on ritual and art offerings to the muses of sacred dance. Here's a little background of how it all came to be.
The history of E.M.W Lucretia*Renee & Aradia met at Euphoria Studios under the brilliant instruction of miss Jane Archer. Instantly, a kinship was made and the two artists were delighted to have so much in common. Both having years of costume design, fire dance, theatre, and dance training under there sparkly belts. It is here the ritual between the two opened into a community offering. Having the shared vision of a darker version of sacred dance. Honoring myths and rituals through an ancient form of devotion.
• E:M:W 2005 @ The Egyptian Room 'Aphrodite’s After-hours' This is where East:Meets:West was born. This was also Serpentine's first ritual performance. We created such a stir we were all looking for new a creative outlet. • E:M:W 2005 Halloween @ The Center Ring 'A night of Dark Decadence' We showed off how butch we could really be by literally digging the stage out of hay and rubble, days and months of preparation and don’t forget our master tarp creation.=)
• E:M:W 2006 @ Mt. Tabor Theatre 'Kali''s Boudoir' Art installations and aaahhhhh- the leather chair & slave boys "while the sultans away the girls will play" special out of state performers joined the E:M:W crew. We got our first billboard! We rocked that club hard till 3am
• E:M:W 2007 @ Bossonova 'Fusion of The Dark Muses' Months of planning and having the shared vision with our consistent and devoted crew. Magical doorways continued to open. Healing ritual was profound. A rich visual tapestry of talent.
• E:M:W 2008 @ Mt. Tabor Theatre 'Pandora’s Promise' In 2008, Serpentine as a duet expanded into a triplet creating the triple goddess honoring. This was a spectacular event and we filled the house gathering performers from N.Y to S.F and everywhere in between, with more musicians and art installations we creatively reached new heights with all the goddesses in tribal underground representing brilliance and light. All Rituals and themes directed by Aradia Master coordination and graphics directed by Lucretia Promo and planning assistance by NagaSita (5th EMW)
