Current mood:  flirty
hello, friends! i sincerely apologize for not running the rounds on myspace for a while, i've been busy over at the real blog, as well as doing some writing for other sites. but the real reason why my presence on the internet hasn't been as overwhelming as past months is because i'm currently in the process of making new music, which includes joints from 5 o'clock shadowboxers, as well as my experimental hip-hop instrumental project, blurry drones, but i'm mainly referring to new fresh cherries songs!

i've been working on songs for honest kids and the as-yet-to-be-titled EP with repeaters, and although i've debuted a few songs from the former, i've been keeping the demos for the EP under wraps. but i will tell you that for the EP, i've been given the opportunity to not have to write in a "novelistic" format, so a lot of the "short stories" i've been cooking up are pretty dynamic. one song is completely finished: "pregnancy, 1953" is a murder ballad about a jazz musician killing a crooked cop. the other songs that i'm working on, i think, are just as awesome: "ralphie's kids" is about infamous 1980's new york city boosting gang the lo lifes, and i'm working on two untitled ones; both of which are the two most creative songs i've ever written. i'm really excited about this, and will have more details once the recordings are done (which could be a while from now, but whatever).

also, the physical release of buttons for north caroline is coming soon, and in stupidly-limited quantities. i'll release order information as soon as i have the CD's in my hand. cool?

i love you all,
douglas martin
