November’s Full Moon
continues the Harvest Moon cycle, also called The Hunter’s Moon mainly because
deer are abundant at this time, but alternately known as the Frost Moon or The
Beaver Moon. The Frost Moon is pretty self-explanatory – frost is indeed evident
as the days grow colder. The Beaver Moon gets its name from watching these
rodents preparing for winter and insulating their lairs (and because they were
targeted by hunters in earlier times because their pelts made for warm winter
wear). ....
.. ..
There is a chill in the air,
making Air the prominent element during this Full Moon, the perfect time to
honor Lucifer, who brings Light to the dark nights and also Inspiration and
Enlightenment. ....
.. ..
Again, since this is still
Fall, other ways of enhancing your ceremony this time around is the Feasting,
the abundance of Autumn’s offerings – pumpkin pie immediately comes to mind, as
do apples and cider, or cakes or cupcakes made with a cinnamon-y Spice flavor.
OR, in honor of the “Frost Moon”, serve up some ice-cold smoothies or ice cream
treats. Or adding Autumn or deer or beaver-themed decorations to your overall
celebration space. ....
.. ..
For 2009, this Full Moon
falls on Monday, Nov. 2. This is close enough to Samhain to tap into those
energies as well!....
