I hear it everywhere.

"You shop at Wal-Mart? Do you know what that business does to small business?  Or to it's employees? Or the economy?  Or the environment? Or to third world countries?"

My Answer... Who cares?

As heartless as that seams, you really have to think about what Wal-Mart does in it's truest and most simple sense.

It delivers low prices.

Actually, it delivers the lowest prices.  Hands down.  If you can find it at Wal-Mart, chances are, it's the cheapest there.

The average shopper saves $75 on groceries and other household items every month that they shop at Wal-Mart.  That is an average savings of $900 per year.

That is much as some people's paychecks.  Just for shopping at Wal-mart.

You can say everything you want about the destruction of capitalism, job outsourcing to China, and so many other shortcomings of the business, but you just cannot beat an extra paycheck in your pocket.

If you really want to split hairs about Wal-Mart's cruel business tactics, think about where you shop.  Are the products within it's walls only made in America?  Will the local Kroger say to a town, "Oh, you have small businesses here, well we will take our business elsewhere..."  No.  They won't.  They will setup shop just like everyone else.

The products at Wal-Mart are of lower quality they say.  But Vlasic pickles are Vlasic pickles no matter where you buy them, so why not buy them for a dollar less?

My major hangup is this.  Think of the automobile industry.  It has reshaped an entire country and economy and the way we do things in America.  The automobile industry has caused more deaths in America per year than any other fatal occurance.  It also creates super-Corporations such as Exxon-Mobil.  It also pollutes to such a great degree, that the government had to step in and pass laws regulating emmissions.

Outsourcing and automating jobs, corrupt corporations, cheap parts from China and the explotation of the American Consumer.

But will you give up your Car?  Will you throw away your SUV? Will you trash your Truck?  I'm guessing your answer is NO.  But why?

Because the automobile industry has set a standard.  We love our cars.  We wouldn't give them up for anything.  We will tolerate whatever you can throw at us just so we can keep them.

Why not the same for Wal-Mart?  Wal-Mart has set a standard, and we voted 'yes' every time we as an American people shopped there.  We voted for lower prices.

And that is why Wal-Mart has become the number 1 Corporation in America.

So stop complaining about Wal-Mart.  They are no different than any other corporation in America.  People just like to attack whoever is on top, (cough, bill gates, cough).

And who knows? Maybe if you started shopping at Wal-Mart, you can invest that extra money into a nicer car next year...

I would rather buy grapes at kroger once a week rather than at walmart 4 times a week simply because they were rotten before I could eat them. You get what you pay for. I dont boo walmart for being on top, I just refuse to eat their produce.
Boo to rotten grapes!!!!

Touche to the rotten grapes. I will concede that point. But it is a good place for everything non-perishable.

Agreed. Good place for diapers. Did you know they refuse to sell sunblock until April 1st each year? There is sun all year long and most spring breaks are in March. I asked the manager about this and he just referred me to walgreens. Silly. Guess they are not taking a proactive stance on Skin Cancer.
Oh well, their shampoo is cheap!
