The original one was about 6 times longer but I had to chop it for the magazine but here is my first review I have ever penned.
LIVE REVIEW
BAND NAME / NAMES: Cave In,Pelican and The Zico Chain
GIG DATE:01/03/06
VENUE:ABC2,Glasgow
REVIEW (200 words max):
The first band on tonight's bill is The Zico Chain. The Brighton 3 piece have a certain visceral approach to their songs and though not to my taste, the bands Mclusky-esque sound seems to go down well.
Pelican are next onto the ABC's stage and the opener "March to the Sea" dictates the mood for the whole set with its driving rhythms and soaring melodic outbursts, which are more uplifting than earlier material the band have committed to public consumption. With all four members of the band effortlessly delivering their unique take on the familiar Hydrahead sound crafted by bands such as Isis, Mare and Keelhaul they are an incredibly talented force.
The night's headliners Cave In kick off with " Off to Ruin" which is a brilliantly anthemic and driving song quickly captures everyone in the rooms attention. The next song, "The World is in the Way" quickly displays the more unified, powerful and melodic sound that the band are now capable of. Other highlights being "Trepanning" and a new song, which reminisces to their more hardcore background. Even though the very diverse crowd were probably expecting very different versions of Cave In, somehow they all had their expectations met.
