Before you start drinking make sure that you are taking a good multi vitamin and also that you are drinking filtered water. A good multi vitamin! Not one that uses too much cheap vitamin A precursors like beta carotene that requires your liver to work overtime just to turn it into vitamin A. Why? Cuz duh..... alcohol is a toxin. You need to keep yourself  healthy (full of antioxidants) in order to easily handle it.  Alcohol is a diuretic, which means it is going to dehydrate you. Also it is going to challenge your liver so if you are taking a good multivitamin you will have plenty of glutathione in your liver and other "antioxidants" that the liver uses to handle the alcohol and its byproducts. I have to say that I think that the multivitamin from http://www.lef.org called "the life extension mix" (they are a non-profit corp and i don't make anything from telling you this) is the best since it has various things in it that will help your liver. The 3 most importants ones (IMO) are the glutathione precursor called n-acetyl cysteine, the Sylmarin and the B vitamins.

So step zero (means before you start drinking) is: Prepare yourself to handle dehydration, a "liver challenge" and a B vitamin drain. Right? Does that make sense to you? Alcohol will burn up some of the b vitamins rapidly.

Step 1: Add one of those energy drinks to your alcoholic drinks that night. Ask the bartender if he can please mix in an energy drink. If he says no, just tell him that the caffeine will keep you up longer and make you buy more drinks (ha ha). Maybe he will ask his manager to include it as part of the drink line up. Energy drinks have sugar in them (immediate energy for you). They also have a fat soluable type of caffeine from a South American fruit called "guarana." The fat soluable caffeine takes a long time to release into your system so it will keep you up a long time. You are less likely to pass out. If the bar just won't do it then buy one before you start drinking or if you are at home then just buy a whole bunch of them and keep them in the fridge. They have B vitamins & there are many different brands. They also have a little bit of Creatine in them which is an energy "back up" for your muscles and heart.

Step 2: Add filtered water to your drinks or make sure that you go drink filtered water every hour or hour and a half. Yes there is water in your drinks already but you still need to drink a little more and make sure it is highly filtered because you are already making your liver filter and fix the alcohol that you are drinking. That night keep taking the multi vitamin like normal on your normal schedule preferably the LEF one.

Sep 3: When you get home and pass out onto your bed keep a big (not too big) highly filtered water bottle next to your bed and "sip it" everytime you wake up and take one of those http://www.lef.org multi vitamins. Turn the window fan on so that fresh air is running through your room. Don't sleep with the window closed ok?! You need to breathe oxygen. You can't recover unless you have enough oxygen. If you need to stay warm just grab a shit load of blankets or have your friend place a space heater in your room in a safe place (one that shuts off automatically) that won't catch anything on fire and won't be in your way when you run to the bathroom to throw up.  You are like a car that burns gasoline except you burn food ok!? So your pretty mouth is like a carburator on a car. If I keep your car from getting fresh air (air has plenty of oxygen in it) and I keep making it run on the same air (like if i close it inside of a garage) it will start to run worse and worse. Eventually it will just stop. You need oxygen. Why suffocate yourself when you are trying to recover from a hangover?

Step 3a: If you are going to complain that vitamins will make you throw up and you will definitely not take any of them when you are drunk or trying to recover. Let me just tell you that the lef vitamin is different. Since it has only a little bit of everything it is not like those other "horse pill" vitamins. It is not going to taste good coming back up with all that vodka or whatever it is that you drunk if you "throw up" but if you want to make a comparison to other vitamins go ahead. I'm telling you this one is a lot easier to tolerate "coming back up." The benefits outway the unpleasant taste if you do "throw up" by many times and it doesn't actually tastes that bad. In fact I put it into my fruit drinks some times. So keep taking one everytime you wake up with water. Did you know that the oil inside of Orange peels will coat your stomache and float on top of your stomach fluid and keep you from regurgitating food and getting that acid reflux burn in your throat. http://www.lef.org sells a version of COQ10 that includes limonene in it.  COQ10 is a good thing for you to take to recover from or prevent a hangover as long as it is an effective version. Lef also sells a limonene pill especially for preventing acid reflux. You can try that one when you are throwing up and it will probably cut it (heart burn) back by 50%.

Step 4: Eat a good protein like eggs/cheese/sausage/ham/ and after you drink plenty of water eat something with salt in it and then drink more filtered water. A lot of the vitamins that are in eggs are better absorbed because the body likes eggs a lot. It likes certain fat soluable vitamins and flavanoids in a fat matrix like the one that is in eggs. Eggs are at the top of the list of proteins whose energy is available fast. Take a multi digestive enzyme pill with that first meal so that your body doesn't have to make the enzymes. It takes 10 metabolic enzymes to make just one digestive enzymes. You know how you feel like falling asleep when you eat a big meal? Well besides the blood sugar part of it, the reason that you feel that way is cuz your body is so busy making/churning out digestive enzymes. Did you ever think of that? Huh? Yeah! When you eat, it is not just free energy. It is not like gasoline to a car. First your body has to make and squirt a bunch of digestive enzymes into your stomach and intestines and it also has to make stomache acid. The reason that it does it anyways is cuz the energy released compared to the energy invested is about 14 to 1. Since you are trying to recover from a hangover now is the time to pamper yourself so go ahead and take those digestive enzymes. A side benefit is that sometimes it will handle acid reflux better than limonene.
