So, my vacations as of late seem to have a certain routine to them. I fly or drive to Florida (Clearwater to be exact) to see my mom, after I'm here a day or two, she goes into the hospital. As you can imagine this is not quite a relaxing time for me, or obviously for her.
On my current "vacation" my mom took a fall while on a senior citizen outing to see ice sculptures (In Florida mind you). Anyway, she is currently unable to stand and was sick in the hospital all night for some reason. Now she seems somewhat incoherent and out of it, I'm afraid she might have had another TIA (mini stroke sort of) or something worse. They are doing all kinds of tests on her knee, stomach and head....we'll see what happens.
Anyway, as you can imagine this has plunged me into a bit of a deep depression down here. I don't have my normal supports to go to and am trying to figure out how she is going to manage when she gets out of the hospital when I'm not here. They are talking some rehab and I'm thinking they mean longer term rather then shorter term. It's probably best if that's what they mean as she will have all the support she needs in that type of place, although she won't be very happy for a while there, it's better for her overall.
So, if you'd like to be a pal, give me a ring, or an IM or an email to cheer me up a bit, or if you just have any advice on aging parents that would be cool too.
